Creativity, flexibility for workers
In the first 6 months of 2025, the workers, civil servants, and laborers (CNVCLD) movement and trade union activities in Thanh Hoa province continued to mark many outstanding results.
In the context of many difficulties in production and business, trade unions at all levels have proactively innovated, created, and flexibly implemented many practical activities to care for the lives of union members and workers, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province. These are also practical achievements to celebrate the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025).
As of the end of May 2025, Thanh Hoa province has nearly 400,000 employees, of which more than 388,000 are union members. The lives and jobs of the majority of union members are stable, many FDI enterprises have signed long-term orders, maintaining overtime production. However, there are still a number of employees in small and medium-sized enterprises affected by increased raw material prices, low orders, and income impact. The average income of employees in all groups ranges from 5.8 to 7.6 million VND/person/month.
In particular, in the first 6 months of the year, the whole province had 15 collective work stoppages, stemming from the request to increase salaries, bonuses, and benefits. Trade unions at all levels have proactively coordinated to resolve the issue and promptly stabilize labor relations.
One of the outstanding marks is the work of caring for the material and spiritual lives of union members and employees being promoted. Trade unions at all levels coordinated to visit and give gifts to more than 215,000 employees, with a total amount of more than 215 billion VND. The "Union Shelter" Fund alone supported the construction and repair of 102 houses with a budget of more than 4 billion VND. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the program "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan An Dang" was organized on a large scale at 3 locations, broadcast live, attracting a large number of union members and employees to participate. The program "Workers' Day - Market of Love" brings together 100 discount booths, take-away flights and many meaningful cultural, artistic and folk games activities.
Propaganda, mobilization and education work has been widely deployed with more than 400,000 union members and employees disseminated policies, laws, and emulation movements. "Workers' Month", " Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene" in 2025 took place enthusiastically, spreading the spirit of creative emulation, pioneering in entering a new era. The whole province organizes many forums and dialogues in industrial parks, promotes labor safety, and honors 50 outstanding initiatives.
Exciting patriotic emulation movements
Patriotic emulation activities are promoted in conjunction with the movement "Workers, civil servants, and laborers pioneer in realizing the aspiration to build a civilized and prosperous Thanh Hoa homeland" in the period of 2021-2030. In 6 months, more than 1,000 individuals achieved the title of "Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level", 32 individuals were awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; 2 individuals were proposed to be awarded the Third Class Labor Medal.
The work of developing union members and building a strong union organization is identified as a key task. As of the end of May 2025, the whole province has newly established 46 grassroots unions, developing nearly 18,000 union members, reaching nearly 48% of the target for the whole year. Along with that, the organizational apparatus is being strengthened in the direction of streamlining, effectiveness, and efficiency, improving the quality of grassroots union cadres.
Women's work continues to receive attention with many exciting activities, attracting a large number of female union members to participate. The 2025 "talented - graceful female union members of Thanh Hoa" contest is a highlight to honor the image of modern, confident and creative Vietnamese women. The movements "Good at public affairs, good at housework" and "Women who actively study, work, and be creative" spread strongly in the community.
In addition to the achieved results, trade union activities still have limitations such as the work of grasping union members' ideology is not synchronous, the rate of developing new union members is not high, the situation of enterprises evading payment and owing social insurance (SI) still occurs, significantly affecting the lives of employees.
According to Mr. Vo Manh Son - Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor, in the last 6 months of the year, trade unions at all levels have identified focusing on implementing key tasks: promoting the development of union members, building strong organizations; strengthening propaganda and education, raising awareness of laws and politics for workers; organizing a practical emulation movement to achieve achievements to celebrate the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union and the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Thanh Hoa Trade Union; continuing to effectively implement the welfare program for union members; promoting inspection and supervision of the implementation of labor policies, promptly protecting the legitimate rights of workers.
