Historic victory - a step forward in the art of revolutionary warfare in Vietnam
The Binh Gia victory was the first offensive campaign of the Liberation Army of South Vietnam on the Southeast battlefield during the resistance war against the US to save the country. This was a historical event of great significance, contributing to the fundamental failure of the US-puppet “special war” strategy, opening a new period of the revolutionary war in South Vietnam.
Binh Gia “strategic hamlet” (now in Chau Duc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) is located on Highway 327, 4km from Duc Thanh sub-region (old Ba Ria province), the length of the hamlet is about 4km - this is the enemy's “model” “strategic hamlet”, in which the majority of the people are fascinated by reactionary doctrine, and are exploited by the enemy to sabotage us. Binh Gia “strategic hamlet”, the enemy organized its own forces to protect and fiercely sabotage us. Due to the importance of Ba Ria province, the enemy tried to consolidate this province to create a defensive position to block the North and Northeast, protecting the Vung Tau naval base. In compliance with the directives of the Central Military Commission, the General Command and the operational direction of the Winter-Spring 1964 - 1965 campaign, in early November 1964, the Regional Command decided to launch an attack campaign against the enemy in the area of Binh Gia - Duc Thanh - Road No. 2 (70km east of Saigon), in the provinces of Ba Ria, Long Khanh, Bien Hoa, Binh Thuan (now in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai and Southern Binh Thuan provinces) with an area of nearly 500km2, in which the main direction was determined to be Ba Ria - Long Khanh, the coordinated directions were Nhon Trach, Long Thanh (Bien Hoa) and Hoai Duc, Tanh Linh (Binh Thuan) to destroy a part of the force, destroy the key pacification plan of the Saigon puppet government, support the uprising mass movement to destroy "strategic hamlets", promote guerrilla warfare, expand the revolutionary base area...
