Gratitude through practical activities
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tran Thi Le Thu, daughter of martyr Tran Van Kieu (trade union official leading the rubber workers' movement, Saigon - Gia Dinh workers' movement, who sacrificed on the 2nd day of Tet Mau Than 1968), said that every year the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation comes to offer incense to commemorate, express gratitude to martyrs and visit and give gifts to relatives.
My family is very touched by the concern, care, and thoughtfulness of the City Trade Union organization" - Ms. Thu said.
Ms. Thu's sharing is just a typical example of a relative of a martyr who is a trade union official about the heart and gratitude of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union organization to those who have contributed to the revolution.
Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union organization always respects and appreciates the great contributions and sacrifices of martyrs who are trade union officials through periods in particular and heroes, martyrs, wounded soldiers, people with meritorious services to the revolution in general in the cause of national liberation and reunification.
Every year, on holidays, Tet, and the anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27), the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union organization organizes delegations to offer incense, express gratitude, and visit and give gifts to the families of 21 martyrs who are trade union officials; visit and give gifts in gratitude to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers to express the gratitude of the Trade Union organization, CNVCLĐ of the city to relatives and family members who have contributed to the revolution.
On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026) and the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026) this year, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has assigned 8 working groups to manage the area to organize delegations to visit, express gratitude, and give gifts to 64 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and offer incense to 3 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and visit families in the managed area.
At the same time, organize medical examination and screening for about 8,000 people in border communes and revolutionary bases in the city. The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation also assigned ward trade unions to light candles of gratitude and take care of flower gardens and ornamental plants at historical relics and martyrs' cemeteries in the area.
The Trade Union organization and workers and employees of Ho Chi Minh City are determined to emulate good labor, creative labor, and increase labor productivity to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country, repay merits, and contribute to realizing the wishes of heroes, martyrs, wounded soldiers, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and many people with meritorious services to the revolution" - Mr. Thai said.
Caring for people with meritorious services is not only a responsibility but also affection and morality.
Recently, the Trade Union of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) organized a delegation to visit and present gifts to two Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Huynh Thi Se, in Ba Diem commune and Nguyen Thi Lai in Phu Dinh ward, Ho Chi Minh City. These are 2 of the 6 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers who are still alive that EVNHCMC has been supporting for many years and both have lived for more than 100 years.
Trade union officials cordially inquired about the health and life of the mothers, expressing the deep gratitude of generations of officials, workers and employees of the city's electricity industry for the sacrifices and great contributions of the mothers and their families to the cause of national liberation and reunification and wishing the mothers always good health, happy life, and longevity with their children and grandchildren.
Ms. Dang My Ly - Vice Chairwoman of EVNHCMC Trade Union - shared that in recent years, EVNHCMC has taken care of 6 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, but over time, 4 mothers have passed away, leaving only 2 mothers Huynh Thi Se and Nguyen Thi Lai. Every year, EVNHCMC also cares for 750 workers and relatives of workers with meritorious services to the revolution. The total cost of caring for people with meritorious services to the revolution is about 1 billion VND per year.
Peace and development of Ho Chi Minh City today are nurtured by so many losses and silent contributions. Therefore, caring for people with meritorious services is not only a responsibility but also the feelings and morality of each EVNHCMC official, union member and employee" - Ms. Ly emphasized.
