Workers are excited to receive free health care
The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has just coordinated with PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. (PouYuen Company) to organize a free reproductive health check-up program for 35,000 female union members and employees of the company. Accordingly, the program is implemented from July 1 to September 2, in which every day 1,000 female union members and employees receive reproductive health counseling and free cervical cancer screening through the "Health AI" program.
Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung - a worker at PouYuen Company - said that she is very happy to receive free in-depth examinations and advice on reproductive health. Similarly, Ms. Phan Thi Phuong, a kindergarten teacher, said that being supported by the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union for free in-depth reproductive health examinations, she is very reassured.
Changes in thinking about health care for workers
Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has just coordinated with the City Department of Health to organize a launching ceremony for a health care program for 1 million workers.
According to this program, from May to the end of September 30, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation will coordinate with the City Department of Health and medical examination and treatment facilities to conduct screening for 50,000 female union members and workers to serve as a basis for coordinating with the Department of Health to propose to the City Party Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to spend funds to organize screening for 100% of female workers in Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, basic screening according to Circular 32/2023/TT-BYT detailing a number of articles of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment. For cases where workers are diagnosed with the disease, they will be consulted and introduced to specialized hospitals for in-depth treatment.
Mr. Thai added that the program will prioritize female union members, workers working in heavy, hazardous environments, people who have not had periodic health check-ups for 12 months, trade union members, workers in difficult circumstances, and direct production workers.
The special feature of this program is that health check-ups will be organized flexibly right at enterprises, industrial parks, export processing zones or at qualified medical facilities and hospitals, prioritizing organization outside office hours, on Saturdays and Sundays to create the most favorable conditions for workers to participate without affecting income and production activities of enterprises.
The first Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union Congress for the term 2025 - 2030 set out 7 targets to strive for by the end of the term, including the target of 100% of trade union members having medical examinations depending on their conditions and having electronic health records. Among the 16 targets to strive for each year, there is also a target of at least 30,000 union members being consulted and given free health check-ups from trade union financial sources (including at least 15,000 female union members).
