Lao Cai Civil Servants' Union supports people in flood-hit areas

The program to support flood victims has received positive and responsible response from all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in Lao Cai.

According to the Lao Cai Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, the impact of storm No. 3 in the area killed 132 people; 19 people are missing and 50 people are injured.

Along with that, 6,749 houses were flooded, landslides, and swept away by floods, 789 houses collapsed, 1,935 houses were urgently evacuated, and 929 houses had damaged auxiliary structures.

Responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province to support people in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, in recent days, with the spirit of "mutual love", "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", with feelings towards the people in the damaged localities, all cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the Lao Cai Provincial Civil Servants' Trade Union have joined hands to share and support the people in the damaged areas with at least 1 day's salary for each person.

On the afternoon of September 24, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thu Phuong, Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial Civil Servants' Union, said: "Up to now, the units have donated over 1.2 billion VND. The donated money has been transferred to the Disaster Relief Mobilization Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Lao Cai Province to promptly support people in the affected areas in the area."

In addition, officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the Provincial Civil Servants' Union also supported many other goods and essential necessities for families severely affected by floods in the localities.
