News from the Trade Union of Nam Phuoc Commune, Da Nang City on December 22 said: The Trade Union of Nam Phuoc Commune has organized direct work with fishermen and fishing boat owners of the Duy Vinh Fisheries Union to grasp the living conditions, employment and welfare regimes of fishermen in the context of being affected by natural disasters, and aquatic product production and exploitation activities still facing many difficulties.
The commune union discussed with the wives of fishing boat owners about the situation of traveling with friends, income, time the boat is ashore, as well as the implementation of the occupational accident insurance regime when traveling at sea for fishermen.
On the same occasion, the Nam Phuoc Commune Union presented 15 livelihood support packages, each worth 1 million VND, to union members of Duy Vinh Fisheries Union.
This is a source of funding received by the Commune Union from the Relief Mobilization Committee of Nam Phuoc Commune, to support union members to have more resources to invest, maintain and restore livelihoods, especially during the time when fishing vessels cannot go to sea.
Currently, each sea trip of Duy Vinh Fishing Boat Union fishermen takes place for about 10 days, with an average income of 34 million VND/trip.
The support for livelihoods from the Commune Union helps union members have more conditions to buy nets and lead to make nets to fish, and at the same time, receive nets for boat owners outside of their travel time, with a salary of about 45,000 VND/hour, thereby contributing to improving income and stabilizing family life.
The work activities, surveys, and livelihood support of the Nam Phuoc Commune Trade Union demonstrate the proactiveness, flexibility, and closeness to the grassroots in caring for union members and workers; contributing to helping fishermen overcome difficulties, feel secure in sticking with the profession and the Trade Union organization.
