On the morning of December 1, many monitoring stations in Hanoi recorded AQI at a bad level.
According to the monitoring system of the Department of Environment (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), at 6:00 a.m. this morning, at the measuring station at the gate of Hanoi University of Science and Technology on Giai Phong Street, the AQI was at 189. By 7am, the index increased to 191. With this index, the air is classified as "bad", normal people start to have health effects, sensitive people may have health problems.

At station 556 Nguyen Van Cu recorded at 6:00 a.m. this morning, the AQI was 179. By 7am, the index increased to 180.
According to the IQAir Air Air Pollution Index Application at 7:30 am this morning, Hanoi is the 5th most polluted city in the world with an AQI of 212 - very unhealthy.

In particular, around the West Lake area, there is a very high pollution index, especially the Quang Khanh AQI 295 measurement point - purple threshold, which is very unhealthy for health.
Experts recommend that when the air quality index reaches the hazardous level (AQI 301 500), people should minimize going out, temporarily stop outdoor activities and switch to indoor activities. Close your doors to avoid contact with pollution. For sensitive groups, the recommendation is even more strict: absolutely do not go out and ensure the indoor environment is airy and safe.
Previously, to proactively control, prevent and minimize the level of pollution and adverse impacts of this pollution, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requested ministries, corporations and corporations to focus on directing and implementing drastic urgent measures.
According to Ms. Le Thanh Thuy - Deputy Head of the Environmental Management Department, Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, in recent years Hanoi has been under great pressure on air pollution, which can be seen through monitoring data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment or Hanoi City.
"We can see that Hanoi recorded high levels of PM2.5 fine dust, fluctuating very strongly, especially in the winter months. According to our records, air quality in Hanoi varies by region, the inner city has a higher AQI index, partly due to the greater density of vehicles, construction activities are taking place more in the inner city.
At the end of the year, urban renovation activities are often frequent, causing traffic congestion, increasing transportation of construction materials, burning garbage, burning by-products, especially at the end of the year burning votive paper at pagodas" - Ms. Thuy said.
AQI is an air quality monitoring index ranging from 0-500, the higher the index, the higher the pollution level and the higher the impact on health. indices above 300 are considered harmful to health, while 0-50 shows good air quality.
