Workers have to live in cramped, hot rented rooms
At the meeting and dialogue between the National Assembly Delegation, the Chairman of the City People's Committee and trade union members and workers in 2026, Ms. Phan Thi Kim Oanh, working at Mabuchi Motor Da Nang Co., Ltd., shared: "With an average income of only 6 to 8 million VND per month, after covering minimum living expenses and raising young children, the accumulated amount is very small.
Many brothers and sisters, although very eager to have a stable home, have to put aside their dreams because of too much financial pressure, making social housing, although present right in front of their eyes, still out of reach for workers like us.
Besides the financial burden, complicated application processes are also a barrier for workers. Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Trade Union member of Bac My An Tourist Area Joint Stock Company, said that most tourism workers still have to stay in cramped, hot rented rooms. He suggested that the city needs to have solutions to reduce workers' scenes of "lining up" waiting hopelessly.
Mr. Hai worried: "Many brothers and sisters in my company have prepared dossiers carefully, submitted applications to buy social housing in many installments, but all were unsuccessful because the number of registered people is too large, and the chance rate is too low. Prolonged waiting makes many people feel discouraged, and it is difficult to dedicate themselves to the profession for a long time.
He also proposed that the city should consider allocating specific targets for each target group such as tourism, healthcare, and education to ensure fairness.

31,000 future apartments roadmap
Answering workers' concerns, Mr. Le Van Tuan, Deputy Director of Da Nang City Department of Construction, said that by the end of 2025, the total social housing fund in the whole area reached about 20,000 apartments. However, to meet the increasing demand, the city has proactively planned 36 projects with a scale of up to 31,000 apartments.
In which, many key projects for workers in Hoa Cam (200 units), Hai Van (735 units) and Chu Lai (538 units) are expected to be completed in 2027.

Solving the price problem, Mr. Tuan affirmed that the city is making every effort to support workers: "Da Nang City is building a resolution to continue to give incentives to investors, exempting both the site clearance cost in social housing projects as well as the part that invests in infrastructure to contribute to reducing selling prices and rental prices." Regarding administrative procedures, the Department of Construction is committed to simplifying the approval steps.
In particular, the Department has created an online guidance section to support workers. Mr. Tuan emphasized: "All questions from you will be answered within 24 hours. Hopefully, our answers will contribute to solving your difficulties.
Regarding Mr. Nguyen Van Hai's recommendation on sectoral allocation, the leader of the Department of Construction said that current legal regulations do not allow separate allocation for each force.
However, the city will study and propose adjustments and supplements to policies to create the most favorable conditions for workers and specialized workers to soon access housing, helping them feel secure in sticking with and contributing to the development of Da Nang.
