In a rented room in Thang Long Industrial Park (Dong Anh, Hanoi), Mr. Nguyen Huu Hau - a long-time worker of a mechanical enterprise - looks into the distance.
Mr. Hau left his hometown of Nghe An to work in Hanoi more than 20 years ago. Although attached for many years, there were times when he was only arranged by the workshop to work 2-3 days/week due to reduced orders. This situation makes income precarious, "just enough to cover rent, electricity and water bills".

Therefore, having a stable job is what Mr. Hau desires most.
Hau's story is not unique. In many industrial parks at the beginning of the new year, hundreds of thousands of workers from different provinces and cities return to work after Tet, mostly with the biggest desire to have stable jobs and enough income to live on.
This reflects the reality that workers' lives are still concerned about jobs and income in the context of economic fluctuations.
Health is the most precious asset, while stable income and jobs are my main wishes in this new year" - Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc, an electronic component worker in Hanoi, expressed.
And like Mr. Hau, Ms. Ngoc's basic desire is also to maintain a stable job and take care of her family.
Not only stopping at personal wishes, Ms. Ngoc also sends many expectations about more practical policies from businesses and trade union organizations to union members and workers.
I hope to access social housing support programs. Because having a house is a great desire of workers far from home. On the other hand, I also hope to be trained and improve my skills - a factor that helps workers feel secure in sticking with businesses for a long time and easily access the labor market when they are old" - Ms. Ngoc said.
Trade union levels have been and are showing their role in caring for the beginning of the year: from giving train and bus tickets to workers returning to their hometowns, to Tet gifts, in order to reduce the financial burden for workers far from home, especially in the context of increasing living costs.
These activities are not only of material significance, but also send a message of accompanying workers in the journey to build a more stable life.
Entering the new year, the wishes of Mr. Hau as well as many other workers are not big: listening to more abundant orders, being able to work overtime regularly, and having enough income to cover expenses so that at the end of the year they can send money home.
Those are still the simplest and most sincere aspirations of a working force contributing to the pace of production and economic life of the country every New Year.
Faced with the anxiety of workers far from home, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor coordinated with Vietnam Airlines to deploy the "Trade Union Flight" for the Binh Ngo Tet holiday 2026.
According to the plan, the program is expected to take more than 550 workers home for Tet through 3 specialized flights, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with traffic gateways in the North and Central regions. In which, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor supports 500 tickets, Vietnam Airlines supports an additional 50 free tickets for workers in particularly difficult circumstances.
