On the 4th day of the Lunar New Year 2025 (February 1), Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Xuyen (residing in Phu Thanh hamlet, Phu Huu commune, An Phu district, An Giang province) loaded her belongings onto a motorbike to go back to work in Binh Duong.
Ms. Xuyen said that the agricultural economy in her hometown is very unstable, the weather is increasingly harsh, the price of agricultural products is unstable, making people's lives difficult. Meanwhile, industrial zones in the city always need a large number of workers, opening up job opportunities for young people. Therefore, many families and children, including her family, have decided to leave their hometown, bringing their children to the city with the hope of a brighter future.
“Although they know that life in the city is not easy, if they stay in the countryside, they have no chance to escape poverty,” Ms. Xuyen shared.
Ms. Xuyen said that during Tet, she and her husband stay home to chat with their family and relatives. Working far from home all year, they only come home for 5 days, so they spend all their time with their family. Working far from home makes everyone sad, especially after Tet. But putting the sadness behind, workers continue to go on the road, continuing a new year of work. Traveling and working hard in a foreign land to save some money, then at the end of the year, they eagerly return to reunite with their relatives and family.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dien (residing in Nhon Hoi commune, An Phu district, An Giang province) shared that everyone feels nostalgic when they are far from home and relatives, especially after Tet. But putting his sadness behind, he went to Ba Ria - Vung Tau to continue his work.
“Another year of hard work far away from home with months of worrying about food and money, many difficulties, hardships and risks that can happen at any time.
However, putting everything aside, I always hope that the upcoming working days will be favorable, income will increase, the economy will be stable so that I can have better conditions when I return to my family. Because, the most important spiritual gift for those who work abroad is that every time Tet comes, Spring comes, they will be able to reunite with their relatives, enjoy a warm, full and prosperous Tet together," Mr. Dien shared.
The Tet holiday has just ended, and tens of thousands of workers in the West are busy returning to the provinces and big cities to continue their livelihood. For those who choose to leave their homeland to earn a living, they truly feel the excitement and joy of returning home and the pain of being away from their loved ones and hometown to earn a living...
Leaving home after Tet, each person has a different mood and thoughts, but they all have the same wish: to work hard, have a decent income, and when they have enough money, they will return so as not to live away from home.
