Giving opportunities for workers to realize their dream of settling down
Dong Mai Industrial Park (IP), Dong Mai ward currently has 28 operating businesses with about 16,576 workers and laborers.
To meet the housing needs of workers, experts and foreigners, the worker and expert housing project in Dong Mai Industrial Park started construction by Viglacera Corporation in March 2022.
The project has a total area of 9.12ha, including 5 6-story buildings with about 1,000 apartments, meeting accommodation for about 5,500 people.
By April 2025, the project will be completed and opened for sale. The selling price of social housing at the project approved by the Quang Ninh Department of Construction is 10.868 million VND/m2; rental price 65,100 VND/m2/month (including VAT, excluding maintenance costs).
Ms. Lo Thi Thao (22 years old), a worker at Tonly Vietnam Electronics Engineering Company (Dong Mai Industrial Park), said: her husband and wife came from Tuyen Quang to Quang Ninh to work as workers, currently renting a boarding house with young children for 2.2 million VND/month, the rented room is very cramped.
With our income of about 20 million VND/month, we have enough conditions to buy social housing but have not accumulated enough money, so we decided to rent a 54m2 apartment (2 bedrooms) in the worker and expert housing area in Dong Mai Industrial Park with a cost of about 3.6 million VND/month. My husband and I plan to rent for about 5 years, then we will buy this apartment" - Ms. Thao shared.
Mr. Do Van Hung - Chairman of Dong Mai Ward Trade Union - said that although there has been no official survey on the demand for social housing for workers in Dong Mai Industrial Park, through meetings with voters who are workers and laborers with delegates and candidates for People's Council delegates at all levels, the ward trade union realizes that the demand for renting and buying social housing for workers is very large.
“After opening for sale from April 2025 to now, the sales and rental rates at the worker and expert housing project in Dong Mai Industrial Park have reached about 60%, showing the attractiveness of social housing apartments” - Mr. Hung said.
And at the Doi Ngan Hang social housing project (Ha Long ward) - the first social housing project in Quang Ninh - there are 790 apartments, starting to be sold from October 2024 with a price of about 16.2 million VND/m2.
Information from the investor, the Joint Venture of Toan Cau Financial Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company and Hanoi House No. 6 Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, as of March 5, 2026, the project has sold 740 apartments out of a total of about 1,200 registered applications.
Continue to expand housing opportunities for workers
According to the Quang Ninh Department of Construction, as of March 5, 2026, the whole province has been and is implementing 16 social housing and worker housing projects with a total area of about 65ha, with a scale of 18,829 apartments. Among them, 4 projects have been completed with 2,464 apartments.
Currently, Quang Ninh has started construction of 5 projects with 4,991 apartments, and is also completing procedures to start construction of 6 more projects in the first quarter of 2026 with a scale of 11,158 apartments.
According to the target assigned by the Government, in 2026 Quang Ninh must complete about 2,770 social housing apartments.
To complete this goal, the Quang Ninh Department of Construction is urging 5 investors of projects that started construction in 2025 (scale of about 4, 991 units) to accelerate construction progress to complete 2, 770 apartments in 2026.
