On the afternoon of September 6, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters were present at Luong Son Industrial Park (Luong Son district). According to records, there was heavy rain and strong winds. Many workers were urgently responding and stockpiling food and supplies before the complicated developments of super typhoon No. 3.
At Dong Quyt boarding house (Hoa Son commune, Luong Son district), many workers are busy cleaning up to cope with the super storm.
Ms. Bui Thi Loan (born in 1996, a worker at Doosung Teach Company) said: “My husband and I have stocked up on food such as rice, instant noodles, meat, eggs, vegetables, peanuts, etc. as well as essential items, flashlights, water, and medicine to help us get through the days when we cannot go out due to storms.”
According to Ms. Loan, learning from previous storms, the workers in the boarding house have prepared more carefully to ensure that their lives are not disrupted too much during storms.
In addition to stockpiling, many workers also carefully calculate safe shelters in case of strong storms.
Mr. Hoang Duc Chien (born in 1990, a worker at Transon Company - currently staying in Lien Son sub-area, Luong Son town) shared: "In addition to buying more food such as rice, instant noodles, fish sauce and salt to store, the brothers in the boarding house told each other to check the roof, windows and objects that could fly away in strong winds."
According to Mr. Chien, many people have bought more sandbags to block water from entering their homes and raised furniture and equipment to avoid damage during flooding.
In particular, the high risk of flooding in boarding houses has become a major concern for workers living there. Not only do they have to worry about their jobs, they also have to worry about protecting their property and health.
At a boarding house in Nam Lu village, Hoa Son commune, Luong Son district, which is often flooded when it rains, Ms. Ha Thi Lien (born in 1992, a worker at Doosung Teach Company) informed that to avoid property damage like in previous floods, people in the boarding house had packed their belongings and decided to take a few days off work to return to their hometown with their families to ensure safety.
“A few months ago, this boarding house was severely affected by floods. The furniture in the boarding house was flooded and severely damaged,” said Ms. Lien.
