In Workers' Month 2026, trade union levels in Ho Chi Minh City continue to organize conferences and meetings to listen to the voices and aspirations of union members and workers.
Mr. Nguyen Nhat Truong (28 years old, working at VSIP 2 Industrial Park, Binh Duong ward) said that he has returned to Ho Chi Minh City to work for a long time, but his family still has to live in a rented house.
Mr. Truong hopes that trade union levels will propose to all levels of government, Party, and State to continue to pay attention to the lives of workers, especially the issue of housing.
My colleagues and I want to buy a house to settle down in Ho Chi Minh City, but the supply of social housing and cheap housing is very limited. We don't know which projects are being sold and what the prices are.
I hope the trade union will recognize this issue and propose that the State develop more social housing near industrial parks, helping workers access opportunities to buy houses, stabilize their lives and stick with businesses," Mr. Truong shared.
Similarly, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong (42 years old, from Ninh Binh, working at Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd.) came to Ho Chi Minh City more than 10 years ago but still has to rent a room. High house prices have made it increasingly difficult for workers' families like Ms. Huong to buy a stable home.
My family came to Ho Chi Minh City to start a business a long time ago, but the income is only enough to cover living expenses. Currently, the whole family is still renting a room. My wish is for the State to build more social housing so that workers have the opportunity to access and buy, and stabilize their lives" - Ms. Huong expressed.
Ms. Huong shared that in addition to housing, workers are also concerned about medical needs, especially having to go to the central hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, which is time-consuming and costly.
Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation said that they have forwarded these recommendations to all levels of government for consideration.
