Expecting social housing, safe loans
The 1st Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030 (expected to take place from December 14) is an opportunity for nearly 300 delegates representing more than 165,000 union members to express their concerns in daily life. In opinions sent to the congress, the need for stable housing and safe loans is always mentioned first.
Mr. Luong Hoang Huynh, a worker at Ty Xuan Company Limited (Hoa Phu Industrial Park), shared that most of the company's workers are from other provinces or from far away, having to rent a room in cramped conditions and high costs. "We hope that the locality and businesses will soon have solutions for social housing or policies for installment loans with preferential interest rates. Only with stable accommodation can employees feel secure in their work and stay with the company for a long time, said Mr. Huynh.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, a worker at Ty Bach Company Limited (Binh Minh Industrial Park) informed that her family has lived in a small rented room with their two children for many years. With only enough income to cover monthly expenses, buying a house is almost impossible. "If there are appropriate social housing policies and quick procedures, our lives will change a lot. With a house, children have a place to study, parents can work with peace of mind, Ms. Tuyet confided.
Many workers also expressed concern about the situation of black credit springing up online with high interest rates, making it easy for workers to fall into debt when facing difficulties. Therefore, they recommend that trade unions and businesses connect with banks and credit institutions to implement preferential loan packages, quick disbursement, simple procedures, and reduce risks. Workers also hope that the trade union will promote trade union institutions at enterprises such as accommodation areas, food stalls, community activities, etc. to improve the quality of life and working spirit.
Focus on social security and workers' policies
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long Province, Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor, commented that the recommendations sent to the Congress clearly reflect the urgent needs of the current labor force.
According to Mr. Linh, social housing and preferential loan packages must be a priority focus in the new term, because stable housing is a prerequisite for workers to work with peace of mind and stay with the enterprise for a long time. The Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to coordinate with departments, branches and enterprises to research, advise and promote social housing projects suitable for actual needs; at the same time, strengthen the role of connecting with banks and credit institutions to build low-interest loan packages, streamlined procedures, and quick disbursement, helping union members reduce financial risks.
Mr. Linh said that the Trade Union will continue to improve the capacity of grassroots staff through training skills and innovating methods of operation to promptly grasp and handle workers' recommendations. At the same time, it is necessary to promote collective bargaining, protect rights in income, working conditions, shift meals, labor safety and welfare regimes. Trade union officials must regularly closely monitor, listen and support employees, thereby contributing to strengthening harmonious and stable labor relations in enterprises.
When social security policies - especially on housing and preferential credit - are effectively implemented, the workforce will feel secure, businesses will retain human resources and improve productivity, contributing positively to the socio-economic growth of the province, Mr. Linh emphasized.
According to Mr. Linh, this is also a breakthrough in caring for workers, especially through the development of trade union institutions and social housing.
According to the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor, a highlight in 2025 is the Trade Union social housing project in Giao Long Industrial Park, implemented by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in coordination with the province on an area of over 3.2 hectares, including 4 blocks of 7 floors, 2 blocks of bus buildings, serving nearly 2,000 workers. The project is worth more than 554 billion VND from union capital, in compliance with the Housing Law 2023.
