Expected amount
For the past 5 years, every time the new school year opens, the grassroots Trade Union of 19.5 One Member Limited Liability Company (May 19.5 Company) has submitted to the company's leaders a document proposing to spend the reward and welfare fund so that all workers and laborers have money to spend and take care of their children at the beginning of the new school year.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Dung, worker of group 2, garment workshop, Chien Thang Branch - Company 19.5 (An Ninh Industrial Park, Son Dong commune, Hanoi), shared that she has been attached to the business for 20 years.
For the past 5 years, on the occasion of receiving the September or October salary, Ms. Dung has received additional money from the company's bonus and welfare fund with a spending level of 1 month's average salary for the first working months of the year. In 2025, Ms. Dung received more than 10 million VND. This amount of money is used by her to cover expenses for her 2 children at the beginning of the school year.
Ms. Dung has 2 children, the older one just entered the first year of university, the second child entered 7th grade. Ms. Dung's eldest child enrolled in school from mid-August, the second child has not yet started school. Ms. Dung has accumulated money to pay for her child's university enrollment and has additional labor protection support from the company, paid in June 2026.
This amount of money is meaningful and practical because at the beginning of the new school year there are many expenses such as books, clothes, school supplies... We feel shared and encouraged; we have more motivation to feel secure in our work and work harder. This is the deep concern and understanding of leaders at all levels, of the company's trade union for the lives of workers" - Ms. Dung shared.
Ms. Ngo Thi Loan, born in 1981, currently the Head of the Garment Team, Central Enterprise (Company 19.5) also has 2 children, the first child is in 4th year of university, the second child is in 5th grade.
According to Ms. Loan, the company's welfare expenses at the beginning of the school year help her and her colleagues feel secure because they have money to cover their children's schooling. Like Ms. Loan's eldest child going to university, each semester she has to pay tuition fees of more than 10 million VND, the expenses are enough to cover, making her much lighter. In particular, her child from the 2025-2026 school year does not have to pay tuition fees, so Ms. Loan's remaining expenses are also lighter.
In addition to looking forward to the upcoming welfare payment, Ms. Loan said that the company and the union will spend Mid-Autumn Festival money for her children. Recently, she and her colleagues just received labor protection support money (5 million VND/person); vacation money (2.5 million VND/person), so they also have additional savings to take care of their children in the new school year.
Efforts to care for workers
According to Mr. Le Van Quyet - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Company 19.5, in addition to proposing that company leaders spend from the welfare reward fund to give workers and laborers more money to take care of their children during the new school year, the company and the trade union also spend on rewarding academic achievements for the children.
Excellent students are rewarded 100,000 VND/student; excellent students at the school level are rewarded 300,000 VND/student; excellent students at the district level (old) are rewarded 600,000 VND/student; excellent students at the city level are rewarded 900,000 VND/student; excellent students at the national level are rewarded 1,500,000 VND/student" - Mr. Quyet informed.
On the occasion of the opening of the 2026-2027 school year, it is expected that workers and laborers will receive money from the welfare fund in the October salary payment period.
Mr. Quyet added that Company 19.5 currently has 1,131 workers. The employment of workers is stable, the lives of union members and workers are guaranteed, and the average income in the first 6 months of 2026 reached 15 million VND/person/month.
