After Lao Dong Newspaper published a series of articles reflecting the situation of socialized money collection in Quang Tri, public opinion asked: Are principals of these schools responsible for the situation of illegal collection?
On October 15, Mr. Doan Hong Quan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Son Ward (Quang Tri Province) said that after receiving a report from Lao Dong Newspaper on the fees collected at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year at Thuan Duc Primary and Secondary School, the authorities have directed to immediately stop collecting socialized money.
The school has also admitted that there is a situation of degree collection, explaining the reason why the homeroom teacher conveyed the wrong content of the Board of Directors' instructions. Mr. Quan affirmed that the locality will rectify and remind the principal so as not to repeat the same situation.
Meanwhile, with the case of 12/28 classes at Nam Ly Primary School No. 1 (Dong Hoi Ward) collecting 312,000 VND/student, the Department of Culture - Social Affairs of Dong Hoi Ward believes that the responsibility partly belongs to the principal due to not closely monitoring, allowing illegal collection to occur.
According to the representative of the Department of Culture and Society of Dong Hoi Ward, to handle it properly, the government must establish an inspection team, when there is a specific conclusion, the responsibility and handling direction will be considered according to regulations.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, many parents of Nam Ly Primary School No. 1 reported that they were required to sign the list of voluntary support contributions for the school, but the collection level was agreed upon at 312,000 VND/student, causing concerns about the voluntariness of the socialized collection. The school then inspected and discovered 12/28 classes of degrees.
Many parents of Thuan Duc Primary and Secondary School (Dong Son Ward, Quang Tri) are concerned about the facility support of 200,000 VND/student. This is a voluntary collection but is announced at a fixed date.
Both schools then stopped collecting and refunded the money to the parents.
