On the afternoon of December 25, the first session of the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union took place in Hanoi.
At the first session, the Congress listened to the Review Report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union, term VII; discussed and commented on the draft amendments and supplements to the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union and contents related to trade union organizations in the new period.
During the past term, closely following the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Resolution of the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union has focused on leading and directing the entire system to perform well the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; accompanying the profession to successfully complete the political tasks of the banking sector.
Caring for union members' lives continues to be a highlight. In the period of 2023 - 2025, the whole system has spent more than 4,200 billion VND on welfare programs, supporting union members and workers; promptly supporting workers affected by organizational restructuring, natural disasters, epidemics and especially difficult circumstances. 100% of employees are signed labor contracts and fully participate in social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance according to regulations.
Propaganda and political and ideological education work has been strongly innovated towards digitalization and modernization. More than 200 conferences and seminars, hundreds of thousands of union members participated in studying the resolutions and policies of the Party, the legal policies of the State and the industry. The digital communication platforms of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union continue to be effective, becoming a quick and timely connection channel for union members and workers throughout the system.
Patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the "Good workers, creative workers" movement, were widely deployed, attracting a large number of union members to participate. The cultural and sports movement is widely organized with 95% of grassroots trade unions implementing activities, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, connecting union members and workers.
The work of building a trade union organization has achieved many positive results. The whole system currently has 869 grassroots unions with 200 (869 union members, an increase of more than 22,000 union members compared to the beginning of the term; of which, female union members account for 56.7%. Implementing the Central's resolutions on streamlining the apparatus, the Vietnam Bank Trade Union has proactively dissolved and rearranged the unions at the unit receiving 100% of salaries from the state budget; perfecting the union agency in the direction of streamlining, effectiveness, and efficiency - creating a clear innovation mark in the term.
Women's work continues to be a bright spot with 92% of female union members achieving the title of "Good at Banking - Good at Housework"; thousands of female union members in difficult circumstances and tens of thousands of union members are cared for, supported and rewarded. Social security activities have been widely deployed, with the total value of the entire banking system reaching more than VND4,000 billion, contributing to spreading the image of the humanitarian banking industry, community responsibility...
With the spirit of democracy and responsibility, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union, term VIII, 2025 - 2030.
The second session - Solemn session will take place solemnly tomorrow morning (December 26). The Congress listened to a summary of the Report of the Executive Committee of the 7th tenure; Report on the synthesis of opinions and recommendations of union members and employees; presentations to clarify outstanding results and effective models in the activities of the banking industry trade union.
The Congress was honored to hear a speech from the leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Party Committee Secretary, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, and orient the key tasks in the new term.
With the spirit of solidarity, innovation and development aspiration, the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union affirmed its determination to build an increasingly strong trade union organization, truly a reliable support for union members and workers; actively contributing to the sustainable development of the Vietnamese and national banking sectors in the new period.
