On January 14, the Da Nang City Labor Federation held a meeting to honor 150 grassroots union officials in difficult circumstances on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025.
Attending the meeting, in addition to the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Labor Federation and leaders of 11 direct grassroots trade unions, there were also representatives of the leaders of the City Party Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang city.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Member of the City Party Committee, Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - said: "We take maximum care of union members, workers and their relatives in both material and spiritual terms, but we always remind each other that there are still many grassroots cadres who need to be encouraged and shared in a timely manner."
According to Ms. Linh, the city's trade unions at all levels are managing nearly 130,000 union members in 1,697 grassroots unions. In addition to full-time union officials, there are more than 10,000 union officials holding the position of deputy head of the grassroots union or higher, who are daily and hourly the extended arms of the direct superior unions.
The tasks of trade unions are increasingly numerous and more complicated than before due to the constant demands of society in general and the need to streamline the apparatus in the public sector, the pressure to increase productivity and the quality of goods and services, leading to the need to improve the skills and expertise of the workforce in the non-state sector in particular.
Therefore, the above figures demonstrate that: if there are only 58 full-time union officials, it is impossible to meet the legitimate and legal needs and aspirations of hundreds of thousands of union members and workers throughout the city.
"The brothers and sisters here are even more special because they have proven their ability to adapt to circumstances. Despite being busy with worries and facing different challenges in life and career, they still believe in the organization and are ready to accept the tasks assigned by the Union.
"You are the closest and most timely support for union members, workers and laborers at agencies, units, workshops and factories. And you are also the propaganda core, the locomotive of the movement, the spiritual support, the fulcrum to support in improving the material life of union members," said Ms. Linh.
At the meeting, the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Labor Federation and representatives of the leaders of the City Party Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City listened to, acknowledged and accepted the opinions and contributions of the grassroots trade union chairmen.
On this occasion, the Da Nang City Labor Federation presented each grassroots union president a gift worth 1 million VND to encourage and motivate grassroots union presidents to work together to better fulfill their union duties.
