28,367 union members have been developed in 9 months
The Da Nang City Labor Federation has just issued a Notice on assigning the implementation of union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions (CĐCS) in Da Nang city. According to this notice, members of the Standing Committee of the City Labor Federation will work with 1 specialist in charge of commune and ward trade unions to closely monitor and support commune and ward trade unions so that organizational development work brings the highest efficiency, striving to achieve and exceed the targets assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour. Every week, members will monitor and report specifically to the Standing Committee on the situation.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, Deputy Head of the Trade Union Committee of industrial parks - was assigned to be in charge of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in Lien Chieu, Hoa Khanh expanded industrial parks and the High-Tech Park. Mr. Trung said: "The specific allocation of areas to each official helps to be more proactive in grasping businesses, approaching workers, and at the same time linking personal responsibility with the results of union member development and establishing grassroots trade unions".
In 2026, Da Nang City Labor Federation set a target to develop 26,000 new union members. To date, Da Nang city has developed 28,367 union members, reaching 109.1% of the plan, exceeding 2,367 union members, equivalent to about 9.1%. Along with that, 385 new grassroots trade unions have been established.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang City Labor Federation - expects that with the new approach, in the last 3 months of 2026, the number of newly developed union members and newly established grassroots trade unions in Da Nang will increase dramatically.
Closely following grassroots trade unions after establishment
In fact, developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions is only the first step. According to Mr. Le Van Dai, one of the requirements set by the Da Nang Trade Union is that cadres assigned to the area must continue to accompany the new grassroots trade union after the establishment ceremony. The Executive Committee of the grassroots trade union is guided to develop operating regulations, regulations on coordination with businesses, open accounts, collect and pay union fees and organize initial care activities for union members.
Professional departments of the Da Nang City Labor Federation also support grassroots trade unions in dialogue, negotiation and signing collective labor agreements, especially in contents directly related to salaries, bonuses, meals, working hours, and rest hours.
This is a decisive step in retaining union members.
The increase in the number of union members and grassroots trade unions only reflects a part of the results. More importantly, how to make grassroots trade unions operate substantively, so that union members can feel their rights and support after joining. The assignment of areas to each official is therefore not over at the time of establishing grassroots trade unions. Officials also have to monitor activities, grasp difficulties, and promptly report problems to have directions to remove them.
Thanks to being clearly assigned the area and tasks, each official has the conditions to firmly grasp the business situation, identify where to access and proactively support grassroots trade unions that are still facing difficulties. This approach of the Da Nang Trade Union not only helps the development of union members to be monitored regularly and more closely to reality, but also creates changes in the spirit of responsibility of Trade Union officials. Instead of just summarizing results at the end of the period, each official must directly stick to the area, proactively handle work and be responsible for the assigned tasks.
