On the afternoon of March 12, the Da Nang City Labor Federation organized the implementation of the Trade Union Law No. 50/2024/QH15 and the Social Insurance Law No. 41/2024/QH15 to grassroots trade unions.
This is an activity to promptly implement the two laws to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers, while improving the effectiveness of trade union activities in the new context.
At the conference, delegates listened to an introduction to the basic contents and new points of the Trade Union Law 2024 and the Social Insurance Law 2024.
Accordingly, the 2024 Social Insurance Law consists of 14 new contents, including 12 contents directly related to employees and takes effect from July 1, 2025.
Notable new points include adding social pension benefits to people who are not eligible for pensions, expanding the number of subjects participating in compulsory social insurance such as business owners, part-time workers, non-professional workers at the commune level, etc.
In particular, voluntary social insurance participants will receive a maternity allowance of VND2 million for each child born. The law also stipulates the issuance of electronic social insurance books from January 1, 2026 and strengthens handling measures for late payment and evasion of social insurance payment, including criminal prosecution.
For the 2024 Trade Union Law, there are 12 new points, easy to identify and will officially take effect from July 1, 2025. The law making is based on the principle of inheriting existing regulations, eliminating inappropriate content.
At the same time, the law for reference and acceptance selects international experience, ensuring suitability with practical conditions of Vietnam.
Notable new points include: expanding the right to join trade unions for employees without labor relations and employees who are foreign citizens and have worked for 12 months or more, the organization of employees at enterprises can join the Vietnam Trade Union if they voluntarily and agree with the Trade Union Charter...
The Law also adds regulations on protection of non-professional trade union officials and cases of exemption, reduction, and suspension of trade union fee payment for enterprises facing difficulties for a maximum of 12 months.
