Profoundly humane policies
Last February, the People's Council of Da Nang City, term X, passed a Resolution regulating the level of support for voluntary blood donors in the city. This policy is applied immediately after blood donation at qualified voluntary blood donation points and medical facilities.
Accordingly, a full-done blood donor will receive 100,000 VND for 250ml of blood, 150,000 VND for 350ml and 180,000 VND for 450ml. For donated blood in separate components, the support level ranges from 200,000 to 300,000 VND depending on the amount of donated blood: 200,000 VND for 250-400ml, 250,000 VND for 400-500ml and 300,000 VND for 500-600ml.
This support level is calculated to ensure that it is about 45% lower than that of blood donors for money, both encouraging voluntary blood donation and ensuring humanity, avoiding the situation of blood commercialization. The city budget is expected to spend more than 3.5 billion VND per year on this policy.
Chairman of the People's Council of Da Nang City, Mr. Ngo Xuan Thang, emphasized that this is a deeply humane policy, contributing to encouraging and recognizing the noble gestures of those who donate blood to save lives. The City People's Council's Culture - Social Committee also requested the City People's Committee to promptly implement support and consider granting a Voluntary Blood Donation Certificate.
Da Nang's approval of a cash support policy for voluntary blood donors is expected to create more motivation, encourage people to participate in blood donation, contribute to ensuring a stable blood reserve, serving emergency care and treatment.
Spreading noble gestures
In addition to the new support policy, the examples of repeated voluntary blood donation are also a great source of inspiration, contributing to spreading noble gestures in the community. A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Phu Vinh, Chairman of the grassroots union of the Da Nang City Sports Athletes Training Center, who has quietly donated blood to save people more than 70 times over the past 30 years.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Vinh shared: The most memorable night was in 2001, Da Nang Hospital called me to support a patient in a critical labor accident. I know what I need to do, even if it is just a small act. When I heard that my blood helped save a person's life, I felt so special, hard to describe. That is also the motivation for me to continue donating blood for over 30 years.
Not only actively donating blood, Mr. Vinh is also an active volunteer in other social activities such as supporting the poor and lonely elderly people. He always believes in dedicating himself and living a useful life for society.
Mr. Vinhs story is really touching and meaningful. It is not only a story about donating blood to save people, but also a story about responsibility, sharing and kindness. Examples like Mr. Vinh are a great source of inspiration, spreading good values in the community, especially for the younger generation" - Mr. Doan Van Hoa - Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation of Da Nang City - said.
According to Mr. Hoa, in the current context, it is extremely necessary to commend and replicate examples like Mr. Vinh, contributing to arousing the spirit of mutual love and responsibility towards the community, especially among young people.
