On the afternoon of December 28, the 1st Can Tho City Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030, held its first working session.
The Congress is a major political event of the working class and the city's Trade Union organization, taking place in the context that union members and workers throughout the city are focusing on implementing the Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress, towards the 14th Congress of the Party.
With the motto "Unity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development", the Congress has the task of evaluating the results of implementing the Resolution of the 11th Trade Union Congress (2023 - 2028, period 2023 - 2025); determining the direction, goals, and tasks of the movement of workers, civil servants, and laborers (CNVCLD) and trade union activities in the period 2025 - 2030; discussing and contributing opinions to the document of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, contributing opinions on amending and supplementing the Charter of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour; reviewing the leadership and direction of the Executive Committee of the City Labor Federation (LDLD) for the term 2023 - 2025.
At the first working session, the Congress elected the Presidium, the Secretariat and the Appraisal Board for delegate status; approved the Program and working regulations.
Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, City Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation - presented the Report on reviewing the leadership and administration of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the City Labor Federation, term 2023-2028 (period 2023-2025).
According to the report, in the process of leading and directing the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Labor Federation, they always attached importance to inspection and supervision, regularly focused on grassroots levels, listened to feedback from union members and workers, and promptly removed difficulties and obstacles in Trade Union activities. Thanks to that, the Trade Union activities of Can Tho City in the past term had many innovations and creativity, patriotic movements, welfare programs, union member development and building a strong Trade Union organization all achieved and exceeded the set targets, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the city.
Also in this working session, the Congress listened to a report summarizing opinions contributing to supplementing and amending the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union and Documents of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.
At the same time, divided into discussion groups with many topics, including "Promoting collective dialogue and negotiation, focusing on ensuring salaries, bonuses, working hours, rest hours, safety, labor hygiene"; "Focusing resources on developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions in non-state enterprises and the informal labor sector; improving the quality of trade union activities to become increasingly strong"; "Comprehensive digital transformation in trade union activities, focusing on propaganda, gathering, caring for, and serving union members and workers"...
On the same morning, the delegation attending the 1st Can Tho City Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030 offered flowers, incense and reporting merits to Uncle Ho at the Ho Chi Minh Monument (Ninh Kieu wharf, Can Tho City).
