Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, President of the Can Tho City Labor Federation - said that in the past term, the Trade Unions at all levels have achieved many outstanding results, clearly demonstrating their role in representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers.
The work of caring for the lives of union members and workers has been implemented on a large scale and effectively. On the occasion of Lunar New Year alone, Trade Unions at all levels supported 289,239 union members and employees with a total budget of over 125 billion VND; advised Party and State leaders to give 9,860 gifts to workers and laborers in difficult circumstances. There are nearly 400 trade unions organizing shift meals at a rate of 18,000 - 30,000 VND/person/meal.

In the period of 2023 - 2025, the entire Can Tho City Trade Union system has had nearly 2,000 news and propaganda articles; organized over 200 online meetings and conferences, attracting tens of thousands of cadres and union members to participate. Communication work has shifted strongly to digital platforms; the application of management software, digital signatures and online conferences contributes to improving operational efficiency. Every year, over 85% of union members and workers are propagandized the policies of the Party and State; over 98% of cadres and union members study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
During the term, the City Trade Union developed 10,237 new union members, established 69 grassroots unions; introduced 4,472 outstanding union members to the Party, of which 3,026 comrades were admitted. After the merger, the whole city has 881 grassroots unions and trade unions with 139,212 union members.
Patriotic emulation movements continue to spread widely. Union members and employees have implemented 28,117 topics and initiatives, 2,363 emulation works and products, bringing in tens of billions of VND in benefits; installed signs for 39 emulation works with a budget of over 7.2 billion VND. The reward work has been implemented promptly, creating motivation for emulation among employees.

According to Ms. Mai, the above results are an important foundation for the Can Tho City Labor Federation to continue to innovate and improve the quality of activities in the 2025 - 2030 term. Accordingly, the City Labor Union will focus on innovating the content and methods of operation, taking union members and workers as the center; improving the effectiveness of emulation movements, focusing on the movement "Good workers, Creative workers"; promoting the development of union members, establishing grassroots unions especially in the non-state sector and the informal labor sector.
In addition, the City Labor Union has increased digital transformation in propaganda and union member management; improved the quality of union staff, especially grassroots staff; promoted dialogue, collective bargaining, and supervision of labor law enforcement. Practical care programs such as "Tet Sum Vay", "Worker's Month", "Union Shelter", "Welfare for union members", "Improving the quality of shift meals" will continue to be implemented, contributing to ensuring rights, improving the lives and retention of workers, meeting the requirements of sustainable development of Can Tho City in the coming period.
