Based on the actual needs of union members, workers and their children, since 2021, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union has built and regularly maintained the Reading Story for Children Program. The program includes short, meaningful, educational stories made into animated films and broadcast on the YouTube and Facebook channels of the Industry Union with a frequency of 6-8 issues/month. The program aims to accompany and share with workers in raising children. Up to now, through the implementation period, many workers in the industry said that their jobs are often busy and they work in shifts so they do not have much time to study with their children, but with the Reading Story for Children Program of the Industry Union, they have companionship in raising their children.
Another model organized to take care of children that is well received by union members and workers and has been especially effective is the Education Promotion Fund for children of union members and workers. At the grassroots level, there are currently 45/114 union branches that have an Education Promotion Fund for children of union members and workers. Many units organize annual awards and scholarships for children of good and studious workers. The children can visit and experience the factory where their parents work; go camping, experience career-oriented eco-zones; participate in talent competitions, fashion design competitions and sewing clothes from recycled materials...
At the industry level, every year, before the new school year, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union organizes a ceremony to honor children of cadres, union members, and employees who have achieved excellent results in studying and training in the three regions of the North - Central - South with the theme "Flying high dreams". The program includes traditional educational activities such as reporting achievements to Uncle Ho, visiting and learning about history at the Ho Chi Minh Museum, offering incense and listening to congratulatory messages at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam... There are activities to promote children's creativity and teamwork such as experiencing the ecological area, teambuilding, watching movies, participating in games with prizes...
On this occasion, the Industry Union considered and awarded the “Accompanying You to School” scholarship to excellent students with difficult circumstances. Over the past 5 years, the Industry Union has allocated 3.7 billion VND to reward 5,374 excellent students and awarded scholarships to 2,167 students with a total amount of 1.3 billion VND.
It is known that in the coming time, the Industry Trade Union and the Trade Union branches will continue to innovate in commendation and reward to ensure both tradition and education, and appeal to children, so that they have more motivation to strive to study and practice better. The Industry Trade Union will also build more useful intellectual playgrounds specifically for the children of the industry's workers, bearing the identity of the industry so that the children can understand and love their parents' work more.
