The delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour led by Vice President Nguyen Xuan Hung attended the 114th International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
At the Conference, delegates representing governments, employer organizations and trade unions from 187 ILO member countries focused on discussing important issues related to global labor policy in the context of a deeply changing job world with a focus on the ILO Director-General's report on the topic "Choice Time: Effectively Exploiting Artificial Intelligence for Decent Work".
The opinions emphasized that the parties need to promote cooperation to strengthen social dialogue and trilateral mechanisms, promote gender equality in the world of employment, and improve the effectiveness of the international labor standards system. The Conference also continued the second round of discussion towards establishing new international labor standards on adequate employment in the foundational economic sector.
Within the framework of the Conference, the delegation of the Vietnam Trade Union attended plenary sessions, thematic discussion sessions and many sideline activities.

Speaking at the plenary session of the world's largest labor forum on the morning of June 9, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung expressed his agreement with the assessments and orientations in the ILO Director-General's report, affirming the view of putting people at the center in the process of applying artificial intelligence and technology transformation, and emphasizing that technology and artificial intelligence must serve people, contributing to promoting satisfactory employment and social justice, instead of increasing inequality or reducing the basic rights of workers.
Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour shared the results and experiences of the Vietnam Trade Union in caring for, representing, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers, especially in the context of digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence taking place strongly in Vietnam.
Representatives of the Vietnam Trade Union also informed about the key tasks identified at the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, affirming the commitment of the Trade Union organization in accompanying and supporting workers in the face of opportunities and challenges brought about by the digital transformation, automation and application of artificial intelligence, actively participating in building and implementing policies to improve vocational skills, adaptability and access to new job opportunities for workers.
In addition to the official activities of the conference, the delegation of the Vietnam Trade Union had bilateral meetings and exchanges with many national and international trade union organizations such as the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), the General Confederation of China Trade Unions (ACFTU), the Japan National Confederation of Trade Unions (Zenroren), the Central Confederation of Laos Trade Unions (LFTU), the General Confederation of Sweden Trade Unions (LO)... At the working sessions, the parties exchanged information on labor relations, trade union activities, shared experiences in representing and protecting workers' rights and discussed cooperation orientations in the coming time. On this occasion, international partners also sent congratulations to the success of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress.
The participation in the 114th International Labor Conference continues to affirm the role, responsibility and active participation of the Vietnam Trade Union in international labor forums; contributing to strengthening cooperative relations with trade union organizations around the world, while enhancing the position and prestige of the Vietnam Trade Union in the international trade union movement.
