Affirming the position and role of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization
On the morning of June 5, speaking at the closing of the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the 14th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, term 2026 - 2031 said: After 2.5 days of urgent, democratic, serious and responsible work, the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress successfully completed the contents according to the set program.
The Congress discussed and approved important documents: Report of the Executive Committee of the 13th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor submitting to the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Report on reviewing the Executive Committee of the 13th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Revised and supplemented Charter of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and draft action program to implement the Resolution of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
The Congress promoted democracy to elect the Executive Committee of the 14th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, consisting of 135 members, who are comrades with moral qualities, capacity, and enthusiasm for union members, workers and trade union organizations to shoulder the responsibility of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers. The Executive Committee of the 14th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held its first meeting to elect the Standing Committee, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Inspection Committee, and Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the General Confederation. The Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor was launched and received tasks before the Congress.
The Congress was honored to welcome Comrade To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, along with leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, departments, ministries, branches, and mass organizations at the Central level, international guests, leaders of provincial and city Party committees, Party committees directly under the Central Government, former leaders of trade unions of all periods, and many distinguished delegates who attended the solemn session and participated in the activities of the Congress, bringing to the Congress special feelings, great encouragement and motivation for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization.
At the Congress, General Secretary and President To Lam delivered a directing speech, affirming the position and role of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization, praising the great contributions of the contingent of workers, civil servants, laborers and the Trade Union organization in the cause of building and developing the country; and emphasizing the new requirements and tasks set for the working class and the Trade Union organization in the 2026 - 2031 term and the following years - a period of particularly important historical significance, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (2029); the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (2030), the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2045), clearly stating the responsibilities of all levels, sectors and the whole society in caring for, building, and promoting the role and mission of the Vietnam working class in the face of the new requirements of the country.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Government members attended, discussed, and exchanged with delegates attending the Congress on the theme: Trade unions accompany the Government to improve labor productivity, implement the goal of double-digit growth; sending a message to the Congress and union members, workers nationwide, to continue to strive, innovate, apply science and technology, digital transformation, improve labor productivity, and pioneer in implementing the goal of double-digit growth.
Congress sets out 10 groups of striving targets
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed: The 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress expresses the high determination of trade union levels to successfully implement the goal: Focus on developing union members, perfecting organizational models, improving operational efficiency; effectively performing the role of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers; promoting the implementation of democracy at the workplace; propagating and mobilizing workers to innovate and create, pioneer in applying science and technology, building new production forces, improving labor productivity, contributing to building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy country.
To achieve the above goals, the Congress set out 10 groups of striving targets; unanimously launched the emulation movement "Good Labor, High Productivity, Good Income", identifying 2 breakthroughs, 3 programs, 4 projects, 5 groups of key solutions and tasks to focus on implementation during the term.
Deeply aware of the mission and heavy responsibility entrusted by the Party and the working class, the Congress affirmed the will, determination and early transformation into specific actions, taking advantage of opportunities, overcoming challenges, strongly innovating the organization, content, and methods of operation; performing well the functions and tasks according to the provisions of law, contributing to building a modern and strong working class; making positive contributions to the cause of building and developing the country.
Uphold the spirit of solidarity, innovation, and creativity
In his closing speech, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized: The success of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union has great encouragement and motivation, creating a new spirit and atmosphere for trade union levels, officials, union members, and workers nationwide to enter a new term with expectations of new successes, in the context of the world having many changes and the country entering a new stage of development. The successful implementation of the Congress Resolution has many new contents, with higher requirements, which is a heavier task, requiring each trade union level, each official and union member to deeply understand their responsibility, be creative and methodical in concretizing the implementation of the Resolution at each level, each sector, each locality, each grassroots trade union, in which first of all, it must start from the exemplary role of the central level, from the members of the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the General Confederation.
Each delegate attending the Congress should bring the Congress's action determination into the process of performing tasks in localities, sectors, and units. Trade union levels need to organize well the research, thorough understanding, and widespread dissemination of the results of the Congress and the tasks set out by the Congress; develop projects, resolutions, action programs and specific plans to bring the Congress Resolution into work soon (issue Action Program in June, projects and programs in the third quarter of 2026), creating strong changes in the workers' movement and trade union activities.
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized: The Congress closed on June 5, the day Uncle Ho left to find a way to save the country. With that spirit, the Congress called on trade union officials, union members, and workers nationwide to uphold the spirit of solidarity, innovation, creativity, self-reliance, determination to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and successfully organize the implementation of the Resolution of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, practically towards the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, striving to make our country a developed, high-income country by the middle of the 21st century, for a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam, firmly moving towards socialism.
