The delegation led by Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong attended the International Conference and visited and worked bilaterally in the Republic of Greece.
The workshop was attended by 61 delegates from 18 WFTU member organizations from 18 countries and territories.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Pambis Kyritsis, WFTU General Secretary, reaffirmed the basic principles and guiding principles of WFTU's activities as the class struggle, promoting the value of solidarity and the principle of democratic centralism, and emphasizing that cooperation between member trade union organizations is the key to turning difficulties and challenges in the context of many complicated developments in the international economic and political situation into opportunities to enhance the position and prestige of WFTU and member organizations.
The workshop spent time discussing the typical qualities of the working class in the new era, while listening to national reports from participating member organizations, sharing information on the labor and trade union situation in each country.
Speaking at the morning session on November 7, on behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong gave a speech sharing the theme "The qualities of the Vietnamese working class in the new era".
Traditional qualities are inherited and blended with the qualities of the digital age, creating a new portrait of the Vietnamese working class: Intelligence, bravery, discipline, creativity; having the ability to think and act globally, but still maintaining the cultural identity, morality and community spirit of Vietnam. This is the foundation for the Vietnamese working class to affirm its core role not only in economic development but also in building a progressive, fair, humane and deeply integrated social foundation.
The Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also affirmed that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is always an active and responsible member of WFTU, always standing side by side with member organizations to protect the rights and interests of workers.
The active participation of the Vietnam Trade Union Delegation at this Workshop is an outstanding activity in the 2025 multilateral foreign affairs work of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, contributing to the effective implementation of the foreign orientation of Vietnam Trade Unions in the new situation of proactive participation, promoting the role of Vietnam Trade Unions at multilateral forums, international and regional trade union organizations to affirm the position of Vietnam Trade Unions.
During the visit and work in Greece, the delegation visited and offered incense at the WFTU Memorial; had meetings with the WFTU General Secretary, the Greek Pension Trade Union, the Patras Regional Trade Union and the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece.
The visit and work in Greece of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor delegation contributes to the effective implementation of the foreign orientation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation with the policy of closely combining multilateral foreign affairs and bilateral foreign affairs, contributing to maintaining and strengthening relations and promoting friendship with traditional partners and friends.
