Flexible enterprises with solutions to retain workers

Faced with the wave of labor shift between regions, many businesses have flexibly applied welfare solutions and policies to retain workers, ensuring stable production.

For nearly a week, Ms. Ly Thi Huong, Phuc Ung commune, Son Duong district (Tuyen Quang) has had to take a day off work to take care of her 4-year-old son who was hospitalized for acute pneumonia, and her family has only mother and child, so she does not know who to rely on. Although she had to quit her job, Ms. Huong was completely assured because she still received a full salary.

I am working as a garment worker for a leather shoe manufacturing company in Phuc Ung Industrial Cluster, more than 2km from my house. For about the past 2 years, the company has maintained a policy for employees who are sick or have families with force majeure to still receive 100% of their salary, not to mention the situation of my family's single-parent house being supported with additional money to cover hospital expenses. With good policies, I will try to stay with the company for a long time" - Ms. Huong shared.

Industrial centers such as Thai Nguyen province, where there are many FDI enterprises with a large number of employees, also acknowledge creative ways, solutions and policies to retain employees.

At Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd. (Yen Binh Industrial Park), after successfully launching new products, this unit has organized awards to encourage employees with outstanding quality improvement initiatives. Free English and Korean classes are also organized by the company to improve knowledge and communication skills for employees.

Recently, Ms. Nong Thi Huong Xuan (from Cao Bang), a female worker at Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd., was given 100 million VND in support by this unit along with many meaningful gifts because her child has a serious illness and is currently undergoing medication and treatment and cannot go to school like her peers.

Mr. Le Van Thang - Chairman of the Trade Union of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd. - said that for a company with tens of thousands of employees, maintaining policies and regimes, caring for employees is a great effort. This is also a gratitude and companionship of the unit with the contributions of employees.

"From regular health check-ups, salaries and bonuses to caring for the family situation of employees are taken seriously by us. Every step of the unit requires effort, creativity and a spirit of solidarity from the staff" - Mr. Thang said.

In the context of shifting and competing for human resources between regions, companies are taking place fiercely, requiring employers to have solutions to retain employees. That is also maintaining the development and growth of enterprises.

Mr. Bui Sy Loi - former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Social Committee - said that when many industrial parks and enterprises come into operation, the demand for labor recruitment will also increase, and employees will have the right to choose the right job and working environment for themselves.

"If businesses want to move towards sustainable development, they must have long-term and stable policies to retain employees. Because skilled workers are the assets of every enterprise, they accompany and create many values. The salary, bonus, appointment and training regime needs to be of interest to units, it is also an investment for development" - Mr. Loi commented.
