Enterprises still support workers despite heavy damage
After the historic flood that caused severe damage to many industrial parks, factories and production facilities in Da Nang, the Da Nang City Labor Federation (DOLF) organized working groups to directly visit, support and encourage businesses and thousands of affected workers.
Here, each union member with property damage is supported with 2 million VND.

At the 7 Light Sewing Factory (belonging to Tan Minh Textile and Trading Company Limited, Nam Phuoc Commune), mud marks are still stuck on the factory floor.
When returning to the company after the flood, many workers were moved to see the factory, machinery, and equipment of the enterprise severely damaged, the damage was even greater than the losses they were suffering. However, in this difficult situation, the company still prioritizes caring for, giving gifts and providing timely support to employees.

Ms. Truong Thi Hoa - a saleswoman at the 7th Morning Light Garment Factory - emotionally said: "The floodwaters rose so quickly that my whole family could not react. Motorbikes, refrigerators, gas stoves, and TVs were all flooded and damaged. In the past, the company has suffered a lot of property damage but still supported the workers a lot".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam - a worker at the factory - shared: "When I arrived at the company after many days of fighting the flood, I saw that the company's furniture was damaged a lot. At that time, we also tried to clean up and support the company as much as possible. I just hope the company will soon recover and return to production".
Mr. Truong Duc Thinh - Deputy General Director of Tan Minh Textile and Garment Trading Company Limited - said that in addition to material damage, floods also seriously affect production progress, especially when the end of the year is approaching Tet.
"Restoring infrastructure and encouraging workers to return to work is a top priority. Although the gift from the Da Nang City Labor Federation is not large, it has great spiritual significance, helping both businesses and workers to be more determined to restore production, said Mr. Thinh.
More than 17,000 workers in Da Nang affected by floods
Not only businesses, Dien Ban Regional General Hospital is also one of the units heavily affected. When the floodwaters rose, the entire first floor of the hospital, including the Emergency Department, was flooded from 1.3 to 2m deep, and the power source was almost exhausted.
In an emergency, doctors and nurses sucked gasoline from the motorbike to maintain the ventilator, ensuring the lives of hundreds of patients being treated. Mr. Le Minh Doan - Chairman of the hospital's Trade Union - said: "We have to fight almost every hour with floodwaters to keep machinery running and save patients".
According to statistics from the Da Nang City Labor Federation, up to now, the whole city has about 17,000 workers affected by floods, of which 9,300 people suffered property damage. Each case will be supported with 2 million VND to partly overcome immediate difficulties.
The City Labor Federation also directly visited 28 businesses that suffered great losses, listened to recommendations and proposed that the government consider debt reduction policies, tax extensions, and preferential loan support to help businesses soon stabilize operations.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Permanent Vice President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - shared: "The trade union not only provides material support but also accompanies businesses and workers in the process of rebuilding after the flood. We have planned to take care of the Lunar New Year for union members, especially giving priority to those who have lost or damaged their property, helping them stabilize their lives and feel secure in their work.
The gifts given out of hand, although small, contain the affection, responsibility and sharing of the Trade Union organization - a source of motivation for Da Nang workers to strongly stand up after natural disasters.
