That is the opinion of Ms. Nguyen Thuy Duong (*) - a preschool teacher in Bac Giang City, Bac Giang Province. Ms. Duong said that all teachers are very in agreement and excited if the proposal to reduce the retirement age is approved.
According to the Report on explanation, acceptance and revision of the draft Law on Teachers at the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly, many opinions of National Assembly deputies and relevant agencies agreed to reduce the retirement age for preschool teachers with the regimes as stipulated in the draft Law.
Many opinions also agree that the Draft Law stipulates that teachers' salaries are ranked highest in the administrative career salary scale system and have additional allowances depending on the nature of the work and by region.
Ms. Duong has been a preschool teacher for 15 years, and is 38 years old this year. At this age, she feels like she can still take on schoolwork such as dancing, singing, running with the children...
"However, preschool teachers at the age of 50 will find it difficult to meet the above tasks. At this age, their limbs are "hard", unable to dance, sing, and meet the requirements. Even parents and grandchildren do not like "old" girls like that" - Ms. Duong shared.
According to the preschool teacher, when preschool teachers are over 50 years old and teach, children can call them "miss" instead of "teacher".
Ms. Duong believes that the retirement age of 50-55 is reasonable, and the current retirement age roadmap should not be followed.
Ms. Duong was born in 1987. Compared with Appendix I on the roadmap for retirement age under normal working conditions associated with the corresponding months and years of birth (attached with Decree No. 135/2020/ND-CP of the Government), Ms. Duong will retire when she is 60 years old. Ms. Duong believes that at the age of 55-60, it is very difficult for preschool teachers to meet the job requirements.
The 38-year-old female preschool teacher hopes to prioritize salary arrangement for teachers, including preschool teachers. Currently, after a long period of work, she has a salary coefficient of 3.66. Ms. Duong's current total income is about more than 10 million VND/month, including salary and allowances ( seniority, teaching).
"This income is just enough for me to cover my living expenses. My husband is a freelancer with an unstable income. Meanwhile, their children's education is very expensive. If we only rely on our salary, it will be very difficult for us to buy a house, Ms. Duong shared. Currently, the couple still live together at the house of her parents-in-law.
Ms. Tran Thi Thoan (*) - a preschool teacher in Kim Chung commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi - said that over the age of 50, preschool teachers find it very difficult to meet the job. Meanwhile, according to the current retirement age adjustment roadmap, Ms. Thoan will not be able to retire until she is 60 years old.
According to Ms. Thoan, preschool teachers have to do many jobs at school: Dance, singing, exercising, instructing children on movement... When young, teachers can meet the requirements; over 50 years old, it is very difficult to meet the requirements of the job. Moreover, parents and students always " like" younger teachers. Therefore, like many other teachers, Ms. Thoan hopes to retire early compared to other majors.
Previously, Ms. Thoan taught for 8 years at a private kindergarten. Recently, she took an entrance exam for civil servants to a public preschool. Currently, she is receiving 85% of her salary during her internship. The female teacher hopes to improve the salaries of preschool teachers to make life less difficult.
