Regarding the case of the group of teachers at Canh Thuan Semi-boarding Secondary School (Van Canh district) who repeatedly filed "claims for benefits" but failed, recently, the People's Committee of Van Canh district has decided to grant advance funding from district budget, to handle debt repayment for extra teaching hours in the 2022-2023 school year for teachers.

Accordingly, Van Canh district has advanced funding for Canh Thuan Semi-boarding Secondary School (Canh Thuan School) with an amount of more than 215 million VND, Canh Vinh Secondary School with more than 139 million VND and Canh Lien Semi-Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities with more than 86 million VND. to pay for extra teaching hours for teachers. Advance funding from the funding for implementing the salary reform policy in 2023 will be transferred to 2024.

Van Canh District People's Committee also assigned the principals of the 3 above-mentioned school units to manage and use the advance funds for the right purposes, regimes, norms and financial settlement and settlement according to the law; Responsible for returning advance funds to the district budget before December 31, 2024 (if the unit does not repay the advance on time).

Talking to Labor, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Viet - Vice Chairman of Van Canh District People's Committee - said that the locality has advanced funds to schools to pay benefits for teachers. Making payments is the responsibility of the schools, so the time and progress of payments depends on the schools.

Unpaid benefits, salaries continue to be slow

Continuing to report to the reporter, some teachers at Canh Thuan School expressed frustration because the money for overtime teaching for the 2022-2023 school year has not been received, and now they have to suffer from delayed salaries.

“As always, teachers will receive their salary no later than the 5th of every month, but now it's almost the end of the month and we still haven't seen the money. We don't know where our rights are anymore, we are really disappointed and depressed" - Ms. Pham Thi Nga said.

Sharing the same frustration, a Truong Canh Thuan teacher said: "For teachers who have taught for many years, they have accumulated savings so the delay in salary will not have much impact. However, for young teachers who have just graduated from school, or cases where husband and wife work in the same industry and teach together, delayed salaries and debt to the regime will make their lives very difficult."
