Promoting coordination in developing union members
After 9 months of stable business operation, recently, the grassroots trade union of Burley Vietnam Smart Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was officially established with 130 union members.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong - Head of the Steering Committee for the establishment of the Trade Union of Burley Vietnam Smart Manufacturing Co., Ltd., right from the time the company went into operation, the collective of employees wanted to have a Trade Union organization to represent and protect their legitimate and lawful rights and interests. The company's Board of Directors also considers the trade union as a reliable partner for dialogue, listening, and building harmonious and stable labor relations, so there is also a need to establish grassroots trade unions to jointly realize the company's strategic vision. At the end of August 2025, the Steering Committee for the establishment of the trade union was established and proceeded to develop a plan to propagate and mobilize employees to join the Trade Union organization. As a result, 100% of employees applied to join the trade union.
The grassroots trade union of Burley Vietnam Smart Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is 1 of 84 grassroots trade unions established by Hai Phong City Labor Federation from the beginning of 2026 to date. As of April 10, the City Labor Federation managed 2,920 grassroots trade unions with 657,523 workers and 630,678 union members.
Each year, the City Labor Federation sets a target to develop at least 60,000 union members, and by the end of the term, complete the target of developing 300,000 trade union members. Along with that, the City Labor Federation signed a working coordination program with the City Social Insurance, City Police, City Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Economic Zone Management Board... in trade union activities, especially in union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions. Some typical units such as the Industrial Zone Trade Union Board actually increased by 8,763 union members, Mao Dien Commune Trade Union 1. 124 union members, Phu Thai Commune Trade Union 857 union members, Hong An Ward Trade Union 415 union members...
Reviewing sources to develop union members
Through review, the whole city still has 764 units with 20 or more workers who have not established Trade Union organizations with a number of workers of about 34,125 people and 352 units with fewer union members than the number of workers is 24,782 people. The number of workers who are not yet preliminary union members is about 67,907 people. Therefore, from now until the end of 2026, Hai Phong City Labor Federation will continue to proactively advise Party committees and organize the signing of coordination programs for union member development.
Specifically in Workers' Month 2026, the City Labor Federation launched a peak month of union member development with the goal of establishing 35 new grassroots trade unions ( striving for each commune, ward, and special zone trade union to establish at least 1 new grassroots trade union or more and the Industrial Zone Trade Union Board 5 grassroots trade unions or more); practically increasing 10,000 union members.
