Caring for the health of employees at the grassroots level
At Horn Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Duong Industrial Park), occupational health care is always of interest to businesses.
According to Ms. Ha Thi Hong Nhung - Chairwoman of the company's Trade Union, currently, the company applies a shift meal of VND 28,000/meal, night shift meal increased by VND 10,000/meal. During the hot months (April to September), warehouse workers, carpenters, construction workers, and kitchen workers are subsidized with 400,000 VND/person/month... Grassroots trade unions regularly listen to the thoughts and aspirations of union members and employees, prioritizing issues affecting union members' health.
Recently, at a dialogue with business leaders, the grassroots trade union proposed to increase the rest time for pregnant and child-rearing female workers from 60 minutes/day to 70 minutes/day; female workers are entitled to take a leave during menstruation according to regulations. If they do not take a leave, workers will be supported with 55,000 VND/person/month (an increase of 17,200 VND compared to before).
Along with the attention and care from the grassroots side, Hai Phong Labor Federation has implemented a variety of models and solutions to improve union members' health. Recently, at the opening ceremony of the 2025 working month with the theme "Hai Phong Health - Pioneering worker entered the new era", Hai Phong Labor Federation launched a branch of health care advice on the online switchboard 1800888864, opening the physical training point at the Viet Tiep Friendship Cultural Palace.
In 2024, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation will continue to implement the model "Your Health", coordinating with the Department of Population and Family Planning, Tam Phuc Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital to propagate and provide specialized consultation on reproductive health for more than 1,800 female workers in industrial parks.
Most enterprises in industrial parks in Hai Phong have implemented periodic health check-ups for employees with an average examination cost of nearly 500,000 VND/person. 252/349 Trade Unions supervise the implementation of shift meals, proposing to increase the shift meal to an average of 29,000 VND/meal.
Investing in physical training points for employees
With the goal of improving the spiritual life of workers and promoting the mass physical exercise movement following the example of great Uncle Ho, in the period of 2024-2025, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation will deploy the installation of 100 union physical training points in industrial parks, boarding houses, and sports fields with a large number of workers. Each location is expected to install a fixed sports equipment system with a value of 150 million VND/point.
On April 26, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation opened a union physical training site at the Viet Tiep Friendship Labor Cultural Palace Park, which welcomes thousands of union members, workers and people to have fun, entertain, and exercise every day.
The City Labor Federation aims to widely deploy a model of exercise during mid-hour breaks at enterprises with the goal of maintaining exercise habits, improving the health and spirit of employees. To date, hundreds of grassroots unions have been trained on this activity.
Recently, at the launching ceremony of Workers' Month, more than 1,000 workers and laborers participated in a mid-hour physical performance on the background of I am from Hai Phong, lasting 7 minutes. Ms. Duong Thi Kim Dung (worker at Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd.) said: "The mid-hour exercise has a vibrant background, easy-to-remember, easy-to-understand movements, very suitable if applied at the factory".
Particularly during Workers' Month and Labor Safety and Hygiene Month in 2025, Trade Unions at all levels focused on propagating, guiding, and mobilizing businesses to pay attention to improving working conditions, preventing occupational accidents and diseases, especially for female workers. At the same time, negotiate and sign Collective Labor Agreements with beneficial terms with employees, focus on the content of working hours, mid-shift breaks, shift meals... to ensure employees' health.
