In the early morning of November 20, Provincial Party Secretary Nghiem Xuan Thanh was present in flooded communes in Khanh Vinh area to direct response work and ensure safety for people.
The working group visited and encouraged people taking shelter in Khanh Vinh Parish (Khanh Vinh Commune) - which is receiving about 50 workers from Suoi Dau Industrial Park.
On the way home, these workers encountered a deeply flooded road and had to stop.
The local authorities quickly organized an evacuation and brought them to Khanh Vinh Parish to ensure safety. Here, the parish coordinated with the government to arrange accommodation, providing enough food and drinking water for the people.
At the scene, the authorities and local leaders quickly reported the flooding situation in the area.
From noon to the afternoon of November 19, many areas in 4 communes: Khanh Vinh, Tay Khanh Vinh, Nam Khanh Vinh and Trung Khanh Vinh were deeply flooded. The entire area was without power and communication signals, causing many difficulties for rescue work.
In Tay Khanh Vinh commune, Hon Du village is completely cut off. 50 people have been temporarily evacuated to a high-rise house; another group of 3-4 households have taken shelter on the mountainside. However, there is still 1 household that cannot be contacted due to rising floodwaters and strong currents, making rescue forces unable to reach it.
In Khanh Vinh commune, there are 3 households with 11 people being isolated. The authorities have found a way to approach the area but currently do not have a suitable means to get people out safely.
Nam Khanh Vinh commune alone has many villages that are still completely isolated and unable to be contacted because floodwaters continue to rise and flow rapidly.
