On the evening of November 19, about 118 people working in the Hon Ba peak area (Suoi Dau commune, Khanh Hoa province) went down the mountain along route DT657 to return home.
However, prolonged heavy rain caused landslides, cutting off the road, forcing the group to stop moving. Of these, 103 people returned to their original positions to ensure safety, while 15 people continued to find a way down the mountain.
Upon receiving the report, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee directed the forest rangers, police and related units to urgently approach the scene. By 8:30 p.m., the rangers had approached both groups and organized to take people to safe shelters. 15 people continuing to go down the mountain were present at the km2 area of DT657.
On the same evening, Mr. Le Huyen - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - directly inspected the safety assurance for the group of people stuck, requested the forces to be on duty, support and prevent risks related to people's lives.
The Provincial People's Committee also assigned units to quickly assess the landslide situation and repair damaged points on the route to Hon Ba peak to soon restore safe and smooth traffic.
