Sticking to reality from the grassroots level
On the afternoon of August 22, in Thanh Hoa, the Vietnam Bank Union organized the third Conference of the Executive Committee of the VIII term, term 2025 - 2030.
The report at the conference showed that in the first 6 months of 2026, the activities of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers continued to be focused on by the Vietnam Bank Union, achieving many positive results.
The "Trade Union Meal" program was coordinated by more than 272 grassroots trade unions to organize for 39,849 union members and workers. During Workers' Month and Action Month on occupational safety and health, 776 grassroots trade unions implemented activities, reaching a rate of 87%.
The Vietnam Bank Union was also supported by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) with 714 million VND to visit 576 union members and workers suffering from dangerous diseases.
Notably, the program "Month of listening to union members and workers speak" was implemented at 799/870 grassroots trade unions, reaching 91.84%.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Pham Tien Dung - Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Chairman of the Vietnam Bank Union - emphasized that industry trade union activities have been and are closely following grassroots practices, regularly grasping the thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers; proactively participating in solving issues directly related to jobs, lives and rights of workers.
According to Mr. Pham Tien Dung, movements must not stop at launching but must clearly define goals, products and specific results, avoiding formality.
Each program needs to answer what union members get, how the unit changes and how the trade union organization changes after implementation" - Mr. Pham Tien Dung emphasized.
Putting workers at the center
Speaking to direct at the conference, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - highly appreciated the results achieved by the Vietnam Bank Union, and at the same time requested that trade union activities must continue to strongly shift towards substance, taking union members and workers as the center.
According to the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the consistent spirit must be proactiveness, action, dedication, bringing policies and resolutions into life with specific results.
Regarding care and welfare, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that it is necessary to study and build long-term welfare programs with scale and quality commensurate with the specific characteristics of the Banking industry, and at the same time, it is necessary to be proactive, flexible, and suitable to the conditions and resources of each unit.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu proposed to continue to encourage union members and workers to propose initiatives, innovate working methods, and apply technology to improve work efficiency. The Trade Union must not only care for immediate benefits but also contribute to improving the professional capacity, adaptability and long-term position of workers.

According to Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, emulation movements need to be directly linked to innovation and development of the banking industry. Trade union levels need to implement the movement "Good labor, high productivity, good income", associated with digital transformation, green transformation, improving productivity, quality and efficiency of work.
Regarding the task of representing, caring for, and protecting workers, the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor highly appreciated the implementation of "Month of listening to union members and workers speak", but noted that listening must be associated with handling responsibility.
Also according to the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, trade union levels need to continue to strongly focus on grassroots levels, reduce administrative and formal activities; and allocate more resources and time to places where union members and workers really need it.
