The Nguyen Duc Canh scholarship program has been an annual activity of the Trade Union organization for many years, aiming to support students who are children of union members and workers in difficult circumstances and are allowed to go to school.
Trade unions support difficult circumstances before the new school year
In recent days, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has continuously organized activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers in the area.
Thereby, tens of thousands of gifts and Nguyen Duc Canh scholarships have been awarded to workers and children of union members with difficult circumstances who have overcome difficulties to study well. In some cases, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation went to the boarding houses, visited and awarded scholarships, encouraged them to try to overcome difficulties and strive to study.
Receiving the Nguyen Duc Canh scholarship awarded by the Union, D.T.T.H (a 12th grade student living in Rach Dua ward) was very happy because he had more expenses to prepare for the new school year.
H's situation was very difficult when his father passed away early, his mother stayed there to raise 2 children to study with a worker salary. The whole family lives on a rental house on Luu Chi Hieu Street (Rach Dua Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and her mother also has goiter.
"This year I have graduated from grade 12 to prepare for university. There are many things to worry about such as books and learning tools as the new school year is approaching. The scholarship will help me have enough luggage and study better in the future, D.T.T.H shared.
As for L.T.B.T (5th grade student), he is preparing to suit up for grade 6, and his family situation is also very difficult while renting, his father is unable to work, his mother is the main breadwinner for the whole family and 2 children to study...

"The scholarship also helps the family somewhat reduce the difficulties when preparing for the new school year for the children," said Ms. Nguyet - B.T's mother.
900 scholarships to help children go to school
Ms. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has issued a plan to award city-level scholarships in 2025. According to the plan, 900 Nguyen Duc Canh scholarships will be awarded to students, with a total cost of 900 million VND from mobilization sources.
This is a practical activity to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union on July 28. Through the scholarship awarding activity, it is aimed at strengthening the care of workers' children in difficult circumstances who overcome difficulties to study well; at the same time, encouraging workers to overcome their circumstances and become more attached to the Trade Union organization.
According to Ms. Huong, along with the Nguyen Duc Canh scholarship, Ho Chi Minh City trade unions at all levels have also implemented many other activities to care for the lives of workers, especially those in difficult circumstances.
"Caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights of workers are two key tasks that are always of interest to and implemented by Ho Chi Minh City Trade Unions at all levels," Ms. Huong emphasized.
