More than 1,700 workers join trade union organizations
The Ca Mau Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) recorded positive results in union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions in Workers' Month 2026.
The highlight is the establishment of the grassroots trade union of Minh Phu Khanh An Seafood Processing Co., Ltd. in Khanh An Industrial Park with more than 1,600 workers and laborers participating in the Trade Union organization. This is the grassroots trade union with the largest number of newly admitted union members since the beginning of 2026 to date.
Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - a worker at Minh Phu Khanh An Seafood Processing Co., Ltd. - shared that workers are very excited to join the ranks of trade union members.
According to Mr. Huynh Hai Dang - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Minh Phu Khanh An Seafood Processing Co., Ltd., the Executive Committee of the grassroots Trade Union will focus on building a united and strong collective; promote labor law propaganda; care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. At the same time, the trade union will accompany businesses to build a stable, safe and sustainable working environment.
Standing Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial Labor Federation Ngo Diem Phuc informed that the whole province currently has 432 grassroots trade unions and professional unions with more than 42,440 union members. In this year's Workers' Month alone, trade union levels have newly established 11 grassroots trade unions and developed more than 1,700 union members, exceeding the set plan target.
Trade union levels also deploy many practical care activities for union members and workers. Many difficult cases are visited, supported and given gifts during Workers' Month.
Mr. Phan Hung Anh - a member of the Nacabike Technology Motorbike Taxi Union directly under Nam Can Commune Trade Union - said that the concern of the Trade Union organization has added motivation for union members to strive to work, stabilize their lives and stick with the organization.
Proactively sticking to the grassroots to develop union members
According to the Ca Mau Provincial Labor Federation, the result of exceeding the target for union member development in Workers' Month is not a timely success but the result of the preparation process from the beginning of the year.
Right from the first months of 2026, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation has developed a plan to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions associated with the "Peak Month for Union Member Development" as directed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
On that basis, trade union levels proactively review businesses that meet the conditions to establish grassroots trade unions; directly contact and propagate to help workers understand their rights when participating in the Trade Union organization. At the same time, strengthen coordination with local authorities, functional sectors and businesses to remove difficulties in the process of mobilizing the establishment of grassroots trade unions.
According to Ms. Ngo Diem Phuc, exceeding the union member development target is not only meaningful in terms of quantity but also affirms the role and position of the Trade Union organization in caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers. Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, so far the whole province has admitted 1,717 new union members, reaching 114% of the union member development target in Workers' Month 2026.
In the period 2023 - 2025, Ca Mau trade union levels admitted more than 12,230 union members, established 107 grassroots trade unions; introduced more than 5,000 outstanding union members for the Party to consider and train. This is the foundation for the Provincial Trade Union to implement the goal of developing an additional 7,500 union members in the 2025 - 2030 term, expanding the organization to many businesses, and better caring for the rights of workers.
