On September 30, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) coordinated with Vinh Long province to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the Trade Union Social Housing Project. The project is on an area of over 3.2 hectares, including 4 blocks of 7 floors and 2 parking lots, each apartment is equipped with basic furniture such as beds, wardrobes, kitchens, serving nearly 2,000 workers.
Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - said that the project was fully invested with trade union capital, with a total value of more than 554 billion VND, in compliance with the 2023 Housing Law and had completed legal procedures, approved by the Vinh Long Department of Construction.
Ms. Thai Thu Xuong emphasized that this is an important project in solving housing difficulties for workers, contributing to the implementation of the Government's 1 million social housing apartments project. This is also an important tool to attract workers to participate in the Trade Union organization, consolidate and develop the organization.

Ms. Xuong affirmed that although the initial implementation phase encountered many difficulties, with the attention of the Party and State, the project in Vinh Long is the third project to be started after Dong Thap and Bac Ninh, demonstrating positive changes in the system.
The Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor highly appreciated the efforts of the Trade Union Project Management Board and the Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation, and at the same time requested contractors to ensure quality, progress and absolute safety during the construction process.
Ms. Xuong also expressed her hope that the provincial leaders will continue to pay attention and support the project to be completed on schedule, while investing in auxiliary works such as kindergartens and kindergartens, helping workers stabilize their lives, work with peace of mind and contribute to businesses.
Also at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Truc Son - Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee said that the project has practical significance, meeting the housing needs of low-income workers and laborers and contributing to stabilizing the labor force.
Mr. Son affirmed that the project is being implemented in the context of competing to welcome the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, demonstrating the province's determination to consider developing social housing as a key task, associated with the socio-economic development strategy.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Son expressed his gratitude to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for its attention, support, and commitment to directing departments and branches to coordinate and facilitate procedures, site clearance and infrastructure to ensure progress, quality and efficiency of the project.
