Workers feel secure sending their children
In early December, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters had the opportunity to visit Viet My Kindergarten, in Bao Minh Industrial Park (IP), Ninh Binh province. This is one of the first industrial parks in Ninh Binh to have its own preschool facility. The school campus is decorated in many colors, the classrooms are equipped with air conditioners, cooling fans, drinking water, kitchens... quite spacious. In particular, the school also applies STEM education programs and hires foreign teachers to teach to help children develop thinking.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Quynh (a worker at Bao Minh Industrial Park) shared: "Sending children here is not only convenient for daily pick-ups but also gives me peace of mind when working even when the company has overtime. Every time I come home from overtime late, I often call the teacher, asking to give her more time. Especially, during summer vacation, we are very assured to send our children to school.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim - education consultant of Viet My Kindergarten - said that the school is 1,000m2 wide, including a campus inside and outside the classroom, with 8 spacious classrooms, with a capacity of up to 200 students. The special thing is that the school has built a child care schedule that is suitable for the working hours of workers, the school will accept children from 6:45 am to 6:00 pm and provide care support when workers work overtime.
Replicating the model of kindergartens in industrial parks
Ninh Binh currently has 32 industrial parks and clusters in operation with nearly 200,000 workers, of which female workers account for nearly 80% of the total number of workers and are of childbearing and raising young children, so the demand for childcare is very high. The results of a recent survey by the Ninh Binh Provincial Federation of Labor show that in Phuc Son Industrial Park, this demand accounts for nearly 80%; Gian Khau Industrial Park accounts for 78%; Tam Diep Industrial Park accounts for 60% and Khanh Phu Industrial Park accounts for over 30%...
Mr. Nguyen Hai Long - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial Federation of Labor - informed that the Provincial Federation of Labor has conducted a survey, grasped practical needs, actively proposed and recommended to the province to pay attention to the issue of building trade union institutions in the planning process of industrial parks and industrial clusters. Encourage businesses to promote socialization in building kindergartens at the company to meet the needs of workers. At the same time, actively advise higher-level trade unions and authorities at all levels to create conditions for businesses to have land to build kindergartens, kindergartens, etc.
