Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial Labor Federation - said that in order to promote the role of an organization representing the collective of workers, and also as a bridge to help businesses promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers, Dong Thap Provincial Labor Federation has directed grassroots Trade Unions to regularly grasp the thoughts of workers, especially through periodic dialogues, employee conferences, or direct working sessions with business leaders.
Through dialogues and conferences, grassroots trade unions have conveyed recommendations related to salaries, working hours, working conditions, social welfare... Conversely, the Trade Union organization also helps workers better understand the production and business situation, difficulties of businesses, thereby sharing and accompanying.
Reality shows that in businesses with effective trade unions, the number of labor disputes has decreased significantly. Workers have places to confide their thoughts, while businesses have reliable consulting channels to adjust personnel policies appropriately," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan said.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan said that in 2025, 28 grassroots trade unions negotiated and signed collective labor agreements in accordance with the law with employers at 28 enterprises and units. In addition, at 15 enterprises, grassroots trade unions have dialogued and negotiated with employers to adjust and increase the value of overtime meals according to the level specified in Conclusion No. 03/KL-BCH dated January 18, 2022 of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on continuing to implement Resolution No. 7c/NQ-BCH dated February 25, 2016 on "Quality of overtime meals for employees".
Mr. Tuan also added that in 2025, the Trade Union organization promptly coordinated with functional sectors to resolve 5 collective work stoppages of about 2,000 workers. With the participation of the Trade Union organization, sectors and local leaders, the Board of Directors of enterprises has organized dialogue, agreement, and consensus to resolve the recommendations of workers to quickly stabilize production.
Practice from the grassroots shows that when trade unions are truly a bridge, a reliable "middle channel", potential contradictions will be resolved early, instead of becoming fierce conflicts. Dialogue instead of confrontation, negotiation instead of imposition. That is the path to building progressive labor relations," Mr. Tuan emphasized.
