The relationship between the VGCL and FNPR was established in August 1992 on the basis of inheriting the tradition of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the Vietnam Trade Union and the former Soviet Union Trade Union.
Since then, the two sides have maintained relations through delegation exchanges, contacts between leaders, training and fostering trade union officials, sharing operating experiences, exchanging letters and emails on important events and coordinating at international trade union forums. In addition to relations at the General Confederation level, cooperation between a number of industry and local trade unions and training institutions of the two countries has also been established, maintained and developed.
Along with the increasingly strengthened Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, after nearly 35 years of cooperation, the solidarity and friendship between the two Trade Union organizations have also been constantly strengthened, bringing practical efficiency, contributing to improving the capacity to represent, care for, and protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers of the two countries.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation marks an important step in the relationship between the two organizations, creating a basis for further consolidating and deepening the relationship of solidarity and friendship; strengthening experience exchange, information sharing and coordination in areas of mutual concern, in accordance with the requirements of the trade union movement in the new situation.
On the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides will promote practical cooperation activities, in which focus on exchanging delegations at all levels, training and fostering trade union officials, sharing experiences in representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers; exchanging views on new issues raised for trade union organizations and workers in the process of digital transformation, economic development and international integration; and strengthening coordination and mutual support at regional and international trade union forums.
Speaking at the talks, Mr. Sergey Ivanovich Chernogaev, Chairman of FNPR, expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation of the VGCL to visit and work in the Russian Federation, and affirmed that FNPR values and highly appreciates the relationship of solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the Vietnam Trade Union.
The FNPR Chairman assessed that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation is an important milestone, creating more grounds for the two sides to strengthen exchanges, share experiences and implement practical cooperation activities, thereby bringing the relationship between the two organizations to become increasingly deep and effective.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation contributes to deepening, stabilizing and making the relationship between the VGCL and FNPR more effective; and at the same time helps strengthen understanding and friendship between the people of Vietnam and the Russian Federation, contributing to consolidating the social and people's foundation, thereby actively contributing to the consolidation and development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
