Nearly 11,000 employees participate in the Union Meal
Pursuant to Instruction No. 26/HD-TLD, dated July 3, 2024 of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) on organizing the 2024 Trade Union Meal, the Thai Binh Provincial Federation of Labor has developed implementation instructions for all levels of Trade Unions in the province.
Ms. Pham Thi Thang - Vice President of Thai Binh Provincial Federation of Labor - said that the Provincial Federation of Labor and the direct superior Trade Unions at the grassroots level will organize Trade Union Meals at enterprises based on the actual situation. The value of the meal in the Trade Union Meal is equal to the value of a daily meal and the added value from the trade union's financial resources and socialization, in which the added value from the trade union's financial resources is a maximum of 50,000 VND/meal.
During the implementation process, the Trade Union Meals ensure food safety and hygiene, do not affect the production and business activities of the enterprise, and are suitable to the actual conditions of the industry, locality, agency, unit, and enterprise.
According to statistics, in just two months of July - August 2024, trade unions at all levels in the province organized 10 Trade Union Meals with nearly 11,000 employees participating. In particular, the Trade Union of the Economic Zone and Industrial Parks of the province stood out with many Trade Union Meals organized at 4 different companies.
Connecting workers and unions
Previously, at Ngu Kim Fortress Industrial Joint Stock Company (Phuc Khanh Industrial Park, Thai Binh City), nearly 700 union members and employees of the company gathered together to have lunch. The food trays in the Union Meal had more diverse dishes.
“This is the first time I have attended a Union Meal at the company, so we, the employees, are very excited. I hope that the Unions at all levels and the company's leaders will continue to organize many more Union Meals for the employees like this,” said Ms. Dinh Thi Dao, a worker at the company.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa has been with Ngu Kim Fortress Industrial Joint Stock Company for 3 years. Ms. Thoa said: "On this occasion, the company's employees also sat together and talked with the company's leaders and trade unions about the wishes and desires of the workers."
Mr. Pham Dinh Tuan - Chairman of the Trade Union of Ngu Kim Fortress Industrial Joint Stock Company - said that each meal in the Trade Union Meal costs 70,000 VND, of which the Trade Union of the Economic Zone and Industrial Parks of the province supports 40,000 VND, and the company supports 30,000 VND. Compared to the daily shift meal, the Trade Union Meal increases by more than 50,000 VND/meal.
