Lang Son Provincial People's Committee has just coordinated with the Provincial Labor Federation to launch Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026.
With a border province developing industry, trade, services and infrastructure, the requirement is not only to increase productivity and expand production but also to ensure safety for workers in each shift, line, and project.
Ms. Tran Thanh Nhan - Vice Chairwoman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee - said that the working class has always been the pioneering force in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country. In Lang Son, the working class has made many positive contributions to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and building an increasingly rich and civilized homeland.
Workers' Month 2026 is implemented with the theme "Vietnamese Workers: Innovation, improving labor productivity". Along with that, the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health has the theme "Innovating management and improving the effectiveness of occupational safety and health in the digital age".
Here, workers participate in models such as escaping in smoky environments, using fire extinguishers, using personal protective equipment, experiencing virtual reality glasses, occupational safety and health management consulting, and online job exchanges.
In addition, 200 workers participated in the "Day for Workers' Health" with free health check-ups and consultations, 0-dong gifts, discounted shopping and visits to stalls on occupational safety and hygiene. The Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Provincial Labor Federation to also organize visits and support for relatives and victims of labor accidents in the area.
Ms. Tran Mong Huong - a worker at Bao Long Co., Ltd. - said that workers in the province always receive attention from Party committees, authorities, trade union organizations and businesses, thanks to which material and spiritual life is gradually improved.
From the reality of working in factories, Ms. Huong believes that workers understand the value of safety. Health is the most precious asset, because a moment of negligence can leave pain for themselves, their families and colleagues.
From a business perspective, Mr. Pham Minh Tuan - Deputy Director of Lang Son Power Company - said that the unit currently has 650 officials and employees, working in fields with many risks such as electric shock, high falls, working outdoors in extreme weather conditions and factors related to the power grid safety corridor.
To control risks, the company maintains a labor safety and hygiene apparatus including the Safety Department with 6 officials, 12 full-time safety officers at units and 54 safety and hygiene workers at production teams.
Every year, 100% of officials and employees are trained in occupational safety and hygiene, have periodic tests; and at the same time organize drills to handle incidents, rescue and relief, inspect the scene and fully equip labor protection equipment.
Notably, the unit has promoted the application of technology in safety work such as controlling work on the power grid, using unmanned aerial vehicles to inspect and monitor the power grid and remote monitoring systems to detect and warn early of unsafe risks.
In Lang Son, when industrial zones, clusters, infrastructure works, logistics services and production activities are increasingly developing, labor safety needs to be considered a "barrier to protect" workers and businesses.
