On May 15, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC08) simultaneously launched a 45-day and night peak period to ensure security and order, traffic safety, contributing to the goal of building a drug-free Ho Chi Minh City by 2030.
Implementing the peak period, the traffic police force mobilized maximum personnel, vehicles, and equipment to strengthen patrols and controls on road, waterway, and railway traffic routes; focusing on strictly handling violations that are direct causes of traffic accidents and loss of security and order.
Key acts that are inspected and handled include: alcohol concentration violations, speeding, overloaded and oversized vehicles, extended cargo boxes, self-made 3-4 wheeled vehicles, violations in transport business activities, carrying more than the safe water mark on inland waterways and violating railway traffic safety corridors.
In addition, functional forces strengthen inspection and handling of "tuning furnaces", suspicious car repair shops "tuning cars", establishments producing and trading spare parts serving "tuning cars"; resolutely handle acts of gathering, cheering, and organizing illegal racing causing insecurity and disorder in the area.
In addition to direct patrol work, the Traffic Police Department also promotes the application of science and technology, surveillance camera systems and professional technical equipment to improve the efficiency of detecting and handling violations and fighting crime on traffic routes.
The Traffic Police force also coordinates to deploy preventive measures, detect and prevent subjects from taking advantage of traffic routes to commit crimes, transport drugs, prohibited goods, weapons, gather to cause public disorder and illegal racing.
The Traffic Police Department affirmed that it will strictly handle violations with the spirit of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions", determined to reduce traffic accidents, not to let prolonged congestion and illegal racing occur in Ho Chi Minh City.
People are advised to strictly comply with legal regulations when participating in traffic; not to drive vehicles after using alcohol, beer, and stimulants; not to speed, overtake recklessly, or gather for illegal racing.
