In the first quarter of 2026, unqualified workers accounted for 60.6% of the total number of people requesting unemployment benefits.

According to the Vietnam Labor Market Update Bulletin for the first quarter of 2026, by the end of the first quarter of 2026, the whole country had 21.66 million people participating in social insurance (of which 45.2% of the working-age population participated in social insurance), an increase of 15.1% compared to the same period in 2025.

The number of people participating in compulsory social insurance (BHXH) is 19.14 million people, an increase of 12.1% compared to the same period in 2025; the number of people participating in voluntary social insurance is 2.52 million people, an increase of 43.8% compared to the same period in 2025.

Regarding unemployment insurance, in the first quarter of 2026, the whole country had 123.811 people applying for unemployment benefits, a decrease of 42,500 people compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, a decrease of 21,100 people compared to the same period in 2025.

Structure of people submitting applications for unemployment benefits according to professional and technical qualifications: People with university degrees or higher account for 19.3%; people with college degrees account for 7.6%; people with intermediate degrees account for 6.3%; people with certificates and primary vocational certificates account for 6.2%; people without degrees or certificates account for 60.6%.

In general, in the first quarter of 2026, the number of people with decisions to receive unemployment benefits is 1,202,87 people; the number of people consulted on unemployment insurance is 496,999 people; the number of people introduced to jobs is 22,963 people; the number of people supported with vocational training is 5,827 people.
