On September 9, Mr. Vu Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, said that the number of people with decisions to receive unemployment benefits in July and August 2025 continued to increase compared to previous months.
Specifically, in July 2025, the number of people with unemployment benefits decided to receive unemployment benefits was 8,893, an increase of about 9.6% compared to June 2025. In August 2025, the number of people with unemployment benefits decided to receive unemployment benefits was 7,098, an increase of 4.38% compared to July 2025. This reflects that the labor market is still subject to many fluctuations and the risk of job loss for workers is still high.
According to a survey by the Hanoi Employment Service Center, the group of workers aged 25-34 and 35-54 still accounts for the majority of workers applying for unemployment benefits.
Specifically, the 25 - 34 age group accounted for 46.85%, down slightly compared to the previous month (47.4%) but was still the group with the highest rate. The 35 - 54 age group accounts for 40.95% of workers applying for unemployment benefits, an increase compared to the previous month (40.28%), showing that the unemployment situation in the middle-aged group is less stable.
Notably, the group of workers without technical expertise who requested unemployment benefits continued to account for 59.37%.
"This figure clearly reflects the increasing demand for skilled labor. reality also shows the pressure on the group of unskilled workers, forcing them to recalculate the plan to re-enter the labor market. This is also the reason why the Center increases vocational training consultation for the working group when receiving unemployment insurance. If there are no skills, the opportunity to return to the market is very low; if there is a return, workers will quickly fall into a spiral that is easy to eliminate," said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh.
