According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, in Hanoi, in June 2025, the number of people with unemployment benefit decisions increased sharply by 14.8% compared to May 2025, from 7,062 records to 8,111 records. This figure shows that the market is still volatile and the risk of job loss for workers is still high.
Of the more than 7,700 applications for unemployment insurance at the Hanoi Employment Service Center, the group of young workers aged 25 - 34 continues to account for the highest proportion with 47.4%, a slight increase compared to 47% in May 2025. This is a dynamic workforce, in the stage of career building and tends to be ready to change to seek better opportunities. Meanwhile, the middle-aged workers aged 35-54 accounted for 40.28%, down slightly compared to the previous month (40.8%). This decrease may show that unemployment in the middle-aged group is starting to show signs of cooling down, but the proportion is still very high, reflecting that the restructuring process is still strongly affecting even experienced workers.
Regarding the unemployment rate by industry, information and telecommunications technology witnessed the most severe fluctuations when the unemployment rate in June 2025 skyrocketed to 47.24% (May was 39.20%). This shows that the technology sector is in the process of screening personnel, either due to the need for skills changing too quickly or due to adjustments after a period of hot development, said a representative of the Hanoi Employment Service Center.
The financial - banking - accounting sector has an unemployment rate of 23.62%. Although it has decreased compared to 28.39% in May 2025, this is still a high rate, showing that the process of restructuring and screening personnel in the industry is still continuing.
Most surprisingly, the textile and footwear industry has brought a positive signal as the unemployment rate continues to decline, to only 4.95%.
