Hai Phong - On the afternoon of October 16, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation held the 7th meeting of the Standing Committee, term XV.

The conference listened to and contributed opinions on the draft report on trade union activities and the city's workers' movement in the first 9 months of 2024; the draft Plan to take care of Tet for union members and workers in 2025, and organize the 2025 Trade Union Tet market...

By the end of September 2024, Hai Phong had newly established 159/100 grassroots trade unions (reaching 159% of the plan), newly developed 37,075 union members, of which the actual increase in union members was 26,004/30,000 (reaching 94% of the plan assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor). Unions at all levels introduced 2,806/3,020 outstanding union members for the Party to consider and admit, reaching 93% of the plan... Regarding the results of union financial collection, the city estimated union fund collection at 315,000/471,940 million VND, reaching 67% of the annual plan, estimated union fee collection at 94,000/140,190 million VND, reaching 66% of the annual plan.

Regarding the draft plan for Tet 2025, Hai Phong City's trade unions at all levels plan to provide subsidies, gifts, and bus tickets and trips for about 35,000 union members, workers in difficult circumstances, and workers in difficult circumstances in remote provinces to return to their hometowns; strive for 90% or more of grassroots trade unions to organize at least one practical activity to care for union members and workers suitable to the conditions of the base...

The total budget for Tet care for workers is expected to be 8 billion VND from the budget of the City Labor Federation, 10 billion VND from the Hai Phong City People's Committee and other mobilized sources. Compared to 2024, the budget for Tet care for union members from the Hai Phong City People's Committee increased from 6 billion VND to 10 billion VND. This year, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation will not use the Trade Union Shelter Fund to care for union members during Tet. The Trade Union Shelter Fund will focus on caring for and subsidizing union members in difficult circumstances and those affected by storm No. 3.

As for the 2025 Trade Union Tet Market program, the City Labor Federation plans to organize it from January 11 to 19, 2025 at the Vietnam-Czech Friendship Labor Cultural Palace with a scale of about 200 booths of businesses inside and outside the city, including: food, services, household appliances, cuisine... (about 150 commercial booths, 50 food booths and handicraft display booths).

At the conference, delegates discussed and proposed solutions for some targets that have not been achieved according to the annual plan, focusing on two main targets: developing actual union members and union financial revenue and expenditure... In particular, in the last 3 months of 2024, units will continue to focus on developing union members, establishing grassroots unions, focusing on establishing a number of trade unions. Along with that, continue to proactively grasp the issues of labor relations and worker security in the new situation; coordinate to resolve recommendations, problems, and concerns of workers...
