On the evening of April 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation opened the 18th "Workers' Month" in 2026 with the theme "Vietnamese Workers: Innovation, improving labor productivity" and responded to the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026, the theme "Innovating management and improving the effectiveness of occupational safety and health in the digital age".

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; leaders of departments, agencies, branches, the Standing Collective of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation and nearly 2,000 officials, union members, and workers attending.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - affirmed that the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union organization does not only stop at immediate support, thoroughly grasping the direction of superiors, the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union is committed to becoming a reliable support, towards sustainable solutions such as creating stable jobs, increasing income and improving living conditions for workers.
To realize this goal, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation implements 7 key programs throughout Workers' Month 2026, including: Promoting the "Creative Workers" movement; Program "Thank you to workers"; Organizing "May Dialogue"; Caring for union member welfare; Promoting union member development; Improving spiritual life; and Coordinating to promote the development of social housing, healthcare, and education to care for sustainable life for workers.


Speaking to direct at the opening ceremony, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong emphasized that in order for Workers' Month 2026 to spread widely and bring practical efficiency, Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union levels must take practical care, focusing on grassroots levels. Activities must be focused, key, not formalistic, taking workers as the center in all activities of trade unions and businesses.
In addition, Workers' Month is associated with the Action Month on occupational safety and health, businesses need to build a culture of occupational safety, protect the health and lives of workers, consider workers as the precious capital of the business, this respect aims to arouse the hidden creativity in each worker to improve labor productivity, create internal strength connection and sustainable development for businesses.
"Management innovation must always accompany innovation and must become a driving force for development, labor productivity is a measure of efficiency, must spread the spirit of innovation, contributing to improving the quality of human resources in the digital age" - Ms. Thai Thu Xuong emphasized.



Within the framework of the ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented 300 gifts from Party and State leaders and 12 "Trade Union Shelters" to workers in particularly difficult circumstances. In addition to welfare programs for 1,500 union members, the City Labor Federation has implemented the signing of memorandums of understanding on medical cooperation with 3 major hospitals and organized practical fire and explosion prevention skills training.
